  1. First and foremost, I extend my deepest condolences to the family. This is an unimaginable tragedy that has sent shockwaves of grief, distress, and sorrow throughout the nation.

In the wake of this loss, we must ask: what happens next? Our country is facing profound challenges, yet we continue to voice our concerns in silence without taking the necessary steps to hold those in power accountable for the state of our nation.

The Antigua and Barbuda Police Force is in urgent need of a major overhaul. Here’s why:

    1. Rising Unsolved Crimes – Numerous murders, missing persons cases, and robberies remain unresolved, leaving families without justice and the public without trust in law enforcement.

    2. Inefficiency in Reporting and Response – Citizens frequently struggle to report crimes or receive timely, proper assistance when they need it most. This lack of responsiveness weakens public confidence and emboldens criminals.

    3. Persistent Allegations of Corruption – For years, there have been widespread murmurs of deep-seated corruption, particularly regarding high-ranking individuals involved in offenses and subsequent cover-ups.

    4. Abuse of Power – Reports of police misconduct and abuse of authority continue to surface, further eroding public trust in those who are supposed to serve and protect.

    5. Lack of Accountability and Reform – Despite growing public complaints, those in power have done little to address these critical issues, and the people have not taken enough action to demand meaningful change.

With this latest tragedy, all eyes are on how the authorities will handle the case. Will Antiguans demand transparency and accountability? Will the public ensure that those responsible for law enforcement uphold their duties with honesty and integrity?

The government assured us that a task force was in place—what updates will we receive on its work? How will authorities prove that this is not just another empty promise?

This is a crucial moment for the nation. The people must decide whether they will continue to accept the status quo or finally demand the justice, reform, and accountability they deserve.

  2. This demands a national outrage. Our nation is broken at this time and we shall not sleep until we know the truth. We need answers. We need the truth. It cannot be business as usual.

  3. May God give strength to the parents at this tragic time.
Praise to Antigua.news for this update in the middle of the night, even if it is something none of us ever wanted to read.

  4. This is devastating news. But in answer to your suggestion, Antigua and Barbuda has the death penalty on its statute books, but it hasn’t been enforced since 1991.
    Here’s a more detailed explanation:
    Legal Status:
The death penalty remains a legal option in Antigua and Barbuda, specifically for aggravated murder, but it is not mandatory.
    De Facto Moratorium:
While the death penalty is legally available, there has been a de facto moratorium on executions since 1991, meaning no executions have taken place since then.
    Death Row Empty:
In 2016, Antigua and Barbuda emptied its death row by resentencing the remaining prisoners to life sentences, which are reviewable for release.
    Sentencing:
The High Court of Justice in Antigua and Barbuda applied a ruling that the death penalty should be imposed only in exceptionally severe cases, and in the judge’s discretion.

  5. I THINK THEY SHOULD IMPLEMENT HANGING BACK WE TO COMFORTABLE AND TO THE PM WHO PARDON THESE GANG MEMBERS, ITS BASICALLY TELLING THE OTHERS, DO AS YOU LIKE BECAUSE THEY WONT LOCK YOU UP …A THIRD CHILD IS GONE FROM THEIR FAMILY AND A ITS A NINE YEAR OLD AS THAT. COME ON MAN LETS GET THE KING TO BRING BACK HANGING . LETS GO , ITS TO MUCH NOW TO MUCH..MR. PRIME MINISTER YOU TO COMFORTABLE IN DOING THE THINGS AND YOUR NATION THAT YOU BOST ABOUT IS SLIPPING AWAY . REALLY THINK ABOUT YOUR PEOPLE AND THEIR NEEDS FIX IT AND YOULL SEE THE BETTER IN THE COUNTRY.

  6. It is a sad day in the history of Antigua and Barbuda and we need to make an example of what is going on in this place. I put myself in the shoes of this family and I cannot imagine what they may be going through. An innocent child abducted and killed for no reason. This cannot go down in history as another matter for JAIL. Life for Life. Someone must face the death penalty. There is a time for everything under the sun. Now is the time to act. Once a confession is in there, then we put people to death. World Boss be a man. Now is the time to BE A MAN.

  7. They need to give us the two ppl the have in custody let’s make an example out of them that child didn’t deserve such a tragic death

  8. Deepest condolences to the family and friends of the young girl. Unfortunately, I had the feeling that she would not be found alive. I was praying that the perpetrators would be found and brought to justice and that at least her body would be found so the family and nation would have closure and other children would be protected from such evil persons. So, thank God for at least those developments. May the Lord protect our little ones from the monsters that walk amongst us.

  9. Leviticus 24:17
‘Anyone who takes the life of a human being is to be put to death.
We keep making life so complicated when the bible tells us this plain and simple.
Bringing the perpetrator to justice can never be just incarceration for a period of time Where they get 3 square meals and everything else prepaid, that in itself is an injustice to that little girl, family and friends,
The justice system needs to be better tailored for the crimes committed
May that little girl soul rest in peace.

  10. My heart is so very heavy this morning. Little one RIP they must and will pay the ultimate price, I want to see the awful lawyer who is going to defend them

  11. We need Scotland yard we need them now u not sending my children to school if there is a killer out there targeting children

  12. To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Be aware of the choices we make, how you make your bed so you shall lie on it.
If we choose to solve our problems with violence then many more will have to suffer, many more will have to die, and if we say an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth then Antigua will soon be blind and teethless.
Only God our creator can help us.
    condolences to the family.

  13. My heart is sunken! I did not want to wake and hear this news! My belly, and I did not give birth to this child! I said that we should have locked down the country on Friday and comb the country! People don’t like to act when it does not affect them personally! Today is Chantel tomorrow may be your child! “Every piggy ha he Saturday!” We have to be our brother’s keeper! Mr Prime Minister, no disrespect intended, but your words of condolences are flat! You see, you could have exercised that compassion in actions.
Your baby girl is sick. At least she is still safe and you pull out all the personnel to protect them! Others are not so fortunate and look to the powers that be to implement measures to ensure the safety of the nation’s children! I am devasted as a mother!

  14. There was an attempted abduction in cashew hill on Thursday evening. I don’t hear anything about this event.

    This need to be addressed

  15. People of Antigua and Barbuda should be very careful because there are ritualist amongst them.
From the look of things, the young girl was used for a strong ritual.

  16. How mistreouly the Prime Minister always have an pettiful emergency when there is a crisis in Antigua!!!!! We all know that he nar go MSJMC!!!!!

  17. Eyes that see…..
We must ALL as a nation shun the temptations of the Devil and avoid turning this tragedy into his victory. This place needs healing and you can be Parr of a healthy solution instead of using his twisted tongue to further poison the minds of the innocent. We need to put down the devil’s Agenda and join the battle to identify Lucifer in all its forms among us, put on the Armour of God and with a combined spiritual force, drive Satan and his/her disciples from among us!
