MBE is a greater honour than an OBE.

Congratulations to Maurice Merchant….your professionalism has served this country with distinction and has bridged the political divide….well deserved.
Antigua and Barbuda 🇦🇬 say thank you.
💯 agreed
Mr Merchant has always displayed professionalism and tact when executing his duties. I applaud you Sir.
When will Antigua & Barbuda remove themselves from this antiquated UK honours service and awards and replace it with a better Antiguan awards ceremony, that embraces INTEGRITY, HARDWORKING, HONOUR and SAVING LIVES.
Why oh why do Caribbeans continually keep doffing our hats and bending the knee to a monarchy led presentation system that awards CRONYISM, and SUBSERVIENCE.
Furthermore, in recent times these awards are becoming more tainted, by the wrong people receiving them, and the link to friends, colleagues and business associates.
Keeping this system going will only continue the Kowtowing, bowing and bending the knee; and is so stomach churning and vomit inducing to those of us who know the historical significance of keeping the black “Caribbean” bourgeois to preserve this terrible antiquated English 🏴 tradition.
I’m sure I recall Gaston Browne saying he was going to move away from the UK’S monarchy, just like Barbados has done.
Sounds like Prime Minister Browne doing his usual double-speak …
Brixtonian bows to no-one!!!
Why do you call yourself Brixtonian
What happen to Oscar ?

Soundbites @ Jay, explain your damn self. Fool!
The funny thing is people like Steadroy Benjamin and Molwyn Joseph think that their knighthoods give them more respect … far from it!!!
You think talking like british people makes you smarter. Far from the it!!!
What are you talking about you ignoramus?!?!
Talking “British” isn’t smart – far far from it!
Have you got lots me mixed up with one of your ancestors?
Remember @ Jay, all crab 🦀 eventuality find dem hole 🕳
*eventually 😁
Congratulation to Maurice Merchant and to the other awardees. Mr Merchant is an example of what is expected from career Public Servants. To have served across multiple administrations with distinction is no easy feat and says much about his level of professionalism.
@Audley. My friend No! Career civil servants serve the country not politicians. Unfortunately, that is why you never hear permanent secretaries and department directors get any awards. I know your intentions are good Audley but don’t get things twisted. People like Merchant serve politicians and when those politicians lose, they quickly jump on the other side. POLITICAL CONVENIENTS THEY ARE.
Maurice Merchant… for which he is being rewarded with a Colonial title indicative of how lost we are as a Country.
Colonial title 👑 indeed @ Casual Observer, and yes we are lost accept for our neighbourly Barbudan’s.
@ Brixtonian: For once I share your sentiment, that is ” Furthermore, in recent times these awards are becoming more tainted, by the wrong people receiving them, and the link to friends, colleagues and business associates. ”
I am yet to understand what has Flagman done to earn a national award? I would accept that he deserves recognition from the Min of Tourism but not a national award.
Now we are having policemen who perform the role as messengers for their superiors getting national awards. Sad!!
Many of our teachers & other civil servants who serve this country with distinction for almost their lives have not been looked upon to get a national award…… what is this country really coming to??
