Masked intruder targets EMS compound during overnight shift

23

A masked man entered the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) compound in the early hours of the morning, prompting renewed concern about security at a key emergency response facility.

The incident happened shortly after 01:00, when both ambulances on duty had left almost at the same time to attend separate emergencies, leaving a lone female dispatcher inside the building.

The intruder is believed to have been watching the compound and entered within minutes of the ambulances’ departure. He searched through bags and took cash and other small personal items.

The dispatcher was not physically harmed, but was left shaken. The man fled after she began screaming. Police were called and arrived within minutes.

EMS staff say the incident has had a significant emotional impact and have questioned how the compound was operating overnight without on-site security. A security officer was reportedly posted there the following night.

Police have not yet issued an official statement and investigations are continuing.

  1. The loot has been taken folks..yes, they have lost the damn country to criminals.

    Little Antigua, imagine that!

Or we should just go back to it’s old name ” Little LA”.

  2. Now if the Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers; Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin; and Prime Minister Gaston Browne doesn’t respond to this brazen security breach at our Emergency Medical Services, then I’m at a loss for words!

What! Staff and patients aren’t even safe in hospital?

It seems like the criminals ah run tings here…

The relevant authorities can no longer ignore what’s going on in the country at large. The criminals have no fear of the laws or law enforcement.

  3. … And in the meantime Islanman26, Gasbag Browne is galavanting abroad and totally ignoring the tidal waves of crimes enveloping this country; but yet the ABLP and their supporters are more concerned about the UPP opposition members.

They have taken their eyes off the ball of what’s really troubling the hardworking citizens living here; people still talking about returning the ABLP to governance at next General Election?

GIVE CRITICAL THINKING ANTIGUANS A BREAK

  4. This is frightening. Imagine being alone at work at 1 a.m. and someone masked walks in. That dispatcher deserves counselling and support

  5. @brix. Say it loud and clear ” A Damn Break”.

That’s what we need. @Lena. We have not lost our good workers to the so-called ” brain drain” we have lost them through criminals.

Yes this worker will need serious counseling.

Imagine hearing that frightening screaming in the dead of night? Just sad all the way around. This is terrifying for that dispatcher and even the workers who feel guilty to have even left her..no fault to them, but it will weigh on them as well.

  6. There need to be more police officers with firearms on the streets and more support for when they use the firearms on criminals

  7. Hmmmm intruder without weapon ,how interested right after the two ambulance left hmmmmmm something wrong and not adding up here but time will tell give a break anything is possible but that’s something to look into i for sure don’t buy that we need matlock and Jessica

  8. This is getting out of hand! You mean to tell me not even the hospital is safe? Now the attorities would understand, with the amount of crimes happening in this country hospital needs more securities. This should be a concern for everyone.

  9. These are just a lazy bunch of wicked men and women trying to terrorize hard working people.

The enemy is at work, more police office won’t solve the issue, it’s the devil’s work to trap humans into his final abyss. What we need to see is more people pushing the gospel, and letting the minds of these people be renewed, people taking a positive stance to do good.

  10. This one is disturbing on a human level. Someone went to work expecting a normal shift to help save lives and instead was left terrified, alone, and violated in what should be a safe space. EMS workers already carry the weight of emergencies, death, and pressure. They should never have to fear for their own lives while doing that job. Today its EMS tomorrow it will be someone else and the price will be greater

  11. EMS workers already risk their lives daily. Security should NEVER be optional at a 24-hour emergency facility.

  12. What the hell really did the intruder expect to find? Really….

I would love to tell you what he should’ve found in there…..two big burly men with a couple cricket bats. The SOB would never commit another crime.
