Former Senator the Hon. Samantha N. Marshall has expressed heartfelt thanks after being elected Deputy Speaker of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Assembly.
In a statement released following her election, Marshall described the appointment as “truly an honour” and said she viewed the role as an opportunity to contribute to regional development.

“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent congratulatory messages following my recent election as Deputy Speaker to the OECS,” she said. “It is truly an honour to serve in this capacity, and I see it as an opportunity, in my little way, to contribute to the advancement of our OECS regional development agenda.”
Marshall also offered special thanks to Antigua and Barbuda’s delegation, led by Foreign Affairs Minister the Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, for moving her nomination.
She expressed optimism about the potential for deeper collaboration among member states.
“Together, our OECS member states can achieve great things, and I hope there will be other opportunities to serve both my nation and our region in the pursuit of regional development,” she added.
The OECS Assembly brings together representatives from across the subregion to support legislative and policy efforts aimed at deepening integration and cooperation.
Marshall’s election marks a continued presence for Antigua and Barbuda in OECS leadership roles.
