Despite his petit stature, young Marquise George propelled his team to glory in the Patricia Matthew and Joanne Solomon Junior Scramble Golf Championship at Cedar Valley over the weekend.

George, who is one of the country’s hottest junior golfers, was in fine form on Sunday, playing alongside his partner, Tyler Hughes.

The duo shot 38 on the back nine to claim honors for the second time in the month-long competition and thus was awarded the overall winners in the boys division.

The runner-up spot was clinched by Carlos Khoury and Kyle Sinac while the third place trophies went to the alliance of Ethan Henry and Syolo Joseph.

In the girls’ category, it was the Singh connection that went the distance and prevailed.

Michelle and Sanjita Singh were by far the better golfers and like the boys champions, they too won the nine hole event twice in the last month to hoist the overall prize.

Sommah Martin and Ashley Francis was second while teammates Lexi Hunt and Akevia Warner, who were the first round leaders took home the third place prize.
