Below is a statement from Works Minister, MP, Maria Browne posted on her social media moments ago:
I’m not one to share a lot on social media because by nature, I’m a quiet person. Daily, it is enough for me that I find gratification in just knowing that I have made, and continue to make positive impacts in the lives of others and solving problems in scenarios that arise in my line of duty. My heart smiles every time I get the opportunity and make good on it, to ‘be the change’ that is necessary. From the day I took office I’ve been met with many challenges, and through the grace of God I have been able to surmount each one. What I face today is no different; another decades-old loophole is being plugged in an effort to save our country money. Incidentally, those who crave power by whatever means, want to spin this good deed to sully my name in hopes it will propel them to victory because on their own, they have no merit. Under the principles of good governance, and doing right by the people who put me here, I shall continue to serve our nation (regardless of who likes me or not).
Placed here by the people; working for the people to fulfill a purpose and no amount of distractions will ever break my focus.
Huge heartfelt thanks to everyone who reached out to me. I love and appreciate you all so very much.
A note to everyone out there: work towards your goals with pure intentions as murky ambition will block your blessings.
Do good and good will follow you ![]()

Don’t think I’ve ever even seen her in public, but she seems like such a nice person ,……
Thank God we have the Hon. Maria Browne who’s watchful eye caught the scamps lol…Good for her….
Thank you for taking the time to respond to the detractors. We know a good woman when we see one. And you are one. Politics in this country is a dirty game. They did all to get Samantha Marshall out and they succeeded. I pray that they will fail when it come to you.
May God keep you and protect you from all this evil and may you continue to be a blessing to others and to the country we all love.
God Bless you Maria.
Huh?
“Those who crave power”.
Well hey there miss Maria, Sorry to tell you this, but you are the last person to make that argument, when you have a person who is your right hand and PM of Antigua who rules Antigua like a dictator.
Deflection deflection definition..that’s all we here from these people. Where is the accountability Miss Maria?
Antigua is a train wreck right now, and that is a direct result of the so-called ” working for the people” you so eloquently put out there.
But nothing personal, just calling a spade a spade!
Continue to be true to your God, your country and yourself. Your deeds, whether good or bad will follow you and show up. May you continue to be faithful.
Stay focused
Who beat you and why are you crying.
Imagine calling it a ‘decades-old loophole’ now that she’s caught in the spotlight. Why only close it when people start asking questions?
What is currently happening in the Antiguan political arena at present should have taken place 10-11 years ago.
Maria Browne has suddenly found out that honesty, integrity and acting on ABLP manifesto promises is the only way to move forward with the electorate.
She has been badly stung by the criticism about how badly the country has been run and now been unceremoniously moved into this response that she could no longer ignore.
A response long overdue to the electorate.
What’s now urgently needed is mandatory political guidelines and behaviour in place at the next General Election for those that we’ve elect to office, as thus:
1. Selflessness. Our politicians should act solely on the publics behalf.
2. Integrity. They must avoid placing themselves under obligation to people. organisations and lobbyists that’ll inappropriately influence political officials.
3. Objectivity. Politicians must make all their decisions impartially .
4. Accountability. Politicians are accountable to the voting public for their decisions and actions. Transparency is the key.
5. Openness. Their decisions must be done in an open, accountable and transparent manner at all times
6. Truthfulness at ALL times.
7. Principles. Exhibit principles in behaviour and conduct in the political arena.
This applies not only to the writer Maria Browne, but to all politicians who have been elected to serve the general public at large.
Then and only then will public confidence return.
Dear Lord please continue to reveal Your will and loving kindness over our politicians, the citizens and Antigua & Barbuda 🇦🇬
And thank you for recently revealing the darkness that was corrupting our official domain 🙏🏾
Continue to take the wheel Lord …
To God be the glory and whom God almighty bless no msn can curse. Just look to God who is the utter of your faith.
I have the greatest respect for the Honourable Minister and I for one think that her work in Public Works over the past year and the transformation that we have seen in some of our major road ways has been nothing short of phenomenal. But being the wife of the Honourable Prime Minister doesn’t make her any less responsible and accountable than any other Minister. Given what has been unearthed and revealed in the Works Ministry, it is only right and fair for the Minister to step aside to allow for a proper investigation to take place. I would have requested the same action had it been any other Minister. And it is not accusing anyone of wrong doing, it is simply to get things right now and going forward. Failure to do so would only allow the cloud of suspicion to continue to hang over the Ministry which she leads. We have to begin to take responsibility for those under our watch and the buck always stops with the head. I respect Minister Browne, I love her but I submit that she must allow for a full investigation into the events at her Ministry and to do that she need to take a leave of absence. I have no political agenda and whatever I say and do is always with Antigua and Barbuda first in mind.
@Audley Phillip Maria ain’t got nothing to do with the roads except the rubber stamp that takes credit. The Commonwealth Heads Of Government Conference in 2026 is why her ministry got the lions share of the budget. She have not accomplished nothin g that a high school senior could not. She is a failed experiment whose biggest asset is passing out candy and Chinese toxic toys as gifts to children.
Antigua Newsroom is definitely under the control of GBLP.
His counterpart the ABLP has been severely injured on the ground, rum shops, Public Market & Jam Dung.
Antiguans for the most part not first and second generations Serian-Antiguans, Asian-Antiguans, or let’s just say, first or second generation Foreign-Antiguans, those that usually benefit the most from these Mafia Cosa Nostra style Family living could care less about these shenanigans, corruptions, allegations of corruptions and the likes. It’s the indigenous Antiguans Families those who’ll be relinquishing some of these perks, those gifted for votes and those who’ll possibly take over, who now know, they have to keep their nose, hose and watering holes clean.
Ok she is given political rethoric to read?
