  1. UWI will be discredited when the head of this institution allow a political party to use the institution for political campaigning.
Will these beneficiaries be looked upon as qualified?

  2. It looks like ALP MPs handing out scholarships to FIC is another version of the ham and turkey phase.
BTW, who is paying for these and the CXC money back? Is this a new Labor campaign strategy?

  3. @Ham And Turkey Part 2, similar thoughts come to mind. Are these funded through the funds allocated, to the Education Department in the 2026 Budget just past in the Parliament?

Campaign finance reform is greatly needed, or if there are any ‘laws’ that have teeth, bite and take effect to do what such laws are intended, to do.

Now speaking of ‘law,’ the African American Bar Association and the A, B&REDONDA Bar Association is supposed to be doing a retreat in Antigua, I hope, that the African American Bar Association can encourage their Caribbean Counterparts, to set up things like the Southern Poverty Law Center, but these American Attorneys, Prosecutors, Judges would have known of the consequences, of malfeasance in Public office. It has placed many of their colleagues in prison to costing them both financially and personally negatively.
Even though, most of them still get away with their shenanigans which put a certain class, set of people in jeopardy.

Any which ways, these scholarships, since they’re being offered to the public, the public have a right to question anything good, bad or indifferent about them.
Then again, the Ruling Arm in the Parliament, always uses its advantage to hold on to power!

  4. Gaston Browne,Chet Greene, the One from PARHAM,now Maria Browne. All of a sudden, they are giving away Scholarships. Is this an ABLP POLITICAL GIMMICK BEFORE THE NEXT ELECTIONS?
Take the damn scholarships and then vote them out.

  5. And these are the type of “conflicts of interest” and nepotism in our politics that want us and the United states to ignore in their decision to put us on their blacklist.

This is favoritism and corruption by political operatives, nothing else.
    It should not be allowed.

Cutie likes to talk about “constitutional law”, so here is something to explain to the electorate you waste of space.

What is this? Because this smells fishy to high heavens.

  6. Chet,Rawdon,Gaston are giving 10 Scholarships each.Maria is giving 20.She has more money than those guys. She is building an enormous thing at Marble Hill, ask her husband.

  7. This country is not run properly otherwise the way in which these politicians giving out scholarships should not be happening. This is not from no trust fund, in the name of someone that has contributed to the development of Antiguan. Our education system should be planned properly from kindergarten to tertiary, to meet our development goals.
Note well, many of these politicians I have a personal liking for, but something is not right here.
Then there is the question of where the money is coming from ? I know of young people that had drop out of university because the government was not paying for the scholarships on time. Ask the new director of communications???????????? Next are equal opportunities be given to our young people regardless of their family background or family political affiliation. Like any other sector of our society and more so our education system should be handled with delicacy.
This is not the sponsorship of a football or netball team. Then if the election is called for example in six months time and these politicians lose their seats , what will happen to our children.( most times they disappear).
Calling on the government to deal with this issue properly. We are now in an era that we have to plan properly.
