Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister for Works, the Hon Maria Browne, has called for continued prayer, unity and resilience following the country’s First Sunday National Church Service for 2026.
Speaking after the service, Ms Browne reflected on a sermon delivered by Apostle Andrews, based on Micah chapter seven, verse eight. She said the message emphasised hope in difficult times, reminding worshippers that setbacks are not permanent and that light can emerge from darkness.
Ms Browne described the sermon as timely, noting that it spoke directly to the need for faith and perseverance among the people of Antigua and Barbuda.
She also encouraged citizens to keep the nation lifted in prayer and extended the call to the wider Caribbean, urging prayers for peace, stability and unity across the region.
The National Church Service forms part of annual observances marking the start of the new year in Antigua and Barbuda.
