Works Minister Maria Browne

During a moment of recognition for women’s contributions in Antigua and Barbuda, Maria Bird Browne expressed concern about the challenges faced by women with innovative ideas.

She noted that these women often hold back due to the negative impact of criticism and mudslinging they endure.

Browne, the Minister for Housing and Lands, emphasized that this discourages women from actively participating in the country’s development, hindering national growth.

She highlighted the dominance of men in politics and called for more women to support each other.

Browne pointed out that many young women in Antigua and Barbuda are interested in politics but are deterred by superficial criticisms that target women in politics unfairly.

She stressed the need for serious discussions about women’s roles and more support for women in politics.

Browne praised the government’s efforts to empower women, indicating a positive future for gender equality and the country’s development.

She also mentioned an increase in women pursuing traditionally male-dominated fields like construction and architecture, indicating progress.

However, Browne expressed concern that men may continue to dominate parliament in the coming years, highlighting the ongoing challenges for women in politics.

  1. Mrs Bird Brown when u lay down beside your clown husband u need to tell him stop the gender bias in politics, charity starts at home !

  2. Where is the gender bias in politics? Both parties have embraced women as candidates. There is a female minister, there was once two and there are several female senators and permanent secretaries. Even the president of the senate is female. Someone needs to start speaking to equality that benefits both men and women EQUALLY and is based on experience, skill and education versus the need to be included for the sake of optics.

  3. If we were you would not get to parliament and renting via the ministry of PWD from your husband and stepson.

  4. Maria, you should be the last person to speak on such matters,Gender Equality. You were parachuted into a Constituency without any challenges. Now you have the gall to be talking. Before your time in politics. What contributions did you make to Antigua and young women as a whole. Where did you work before Politics. You have some damn nerves, lazy arse. Are you still on West Indies Oil Board of Directors? Even though you are a Substantive Minister in Cabinet. Greedy, damn selfish, all of self person are you.

  6. We need an end to ABLP and how they’re running the country. By the way which roads do you people drive on?

  7. Also your husband is the chief mudslinger. Are you saying he is throwing more mud at female hopefuls or the males can handle it better and he needs to treat them special and take extra caution when he throws mud at them

  8. This is so unconscionable hypocritical ! Is Pixie looking relevance? Lady, do some work for God sake. Fix the roads in your bought and paid for constituency at least? You never did an honest day’s work in your life until the idiotic, greedy, dunce DAWG probably ordered you to put your name up for politics.
Who can forget how he humiliated you on the Rumshop, allowing the wannabe rastaman to question you, publicly about your fidelity. Please.
