Antigua and Barbuda’s Attorney General and Minister of Public Safety, Steadroy Benjamin, just issued a ‘Mandatory Evacuation Order’ for the island of Barbuda on state media.
“Anyone who fails to comply with this order will be in breach of law and will be subject to be met with the fullest extent of the law.”
“The government has put into place the orderly transfer of those persons from Barbuda to Antigua.”
Every citizen and resident in Barbuda will housed safely in Antigua.
The Minister made this order in the wake of Hurricane Irma in advance of the impeding Hurricane José (cat 3) expected to make landfall this Saturday.
