An individual with mental health difficulties has managed to escape from His Majesty’s Prison.

The escapee, identified as Josh Joyce from Villa, was serving time for a minor offense before his getaway.

Citizens are urged to promptly notify the nearest police station if they encounter Joyce.

Given his circumstances, authorities advise approaching him with caution, as he might pose a potential risk.

The escape occurred slightly past 9 pm the previous night when Joyce exploited a compromised opening in his holding cell.

As efforts to locate him intensify, the incident highlights the challenges of managing prisoners with mental health concerns within the correctional system.

  1. I pray 🙏 the police and defense force don’t find him first?

  2. The human rights act says that persons with mental health concerns that breaks the law should be treated and managed at an approved psychiatric Unit , not at the prison it’s time that the Sir Lester Bird Hospital have a psychiatric unit to treat and managed as per observation until referred to Clarvue Psychiatric Hospital.

  3. People with mental illness deserve help, not handcuffs and prison. There is a lack of mental health care in incarcerated settings. People with mental challenges who are incarcerated deserve access to appropriate mental health treatment and access to medication and programs that support recovery. It’s double whammy for him as he should have been given a suspended sentence by the courts to allow him to get the necessary treatment. If you enter 1735 with a mental condition, you bound to come out with a condition twice as severe.
Please get treatment for the young man!
