An Urlings man faces jail time for causing the death of a British tourist.

A jury this week found 27-year-old Ruan Roberts guilty of the offence which carries a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment.

He will be sentenced for the offence on January 26.

Roberts was driving his Toyota Corolla along Valley Road around 10 pm on July 19, 2015 when 54-year-old Teresa Cummins was struck dead.

Cummings, a college tutor, had arrived in Antigua that day and was walking with others on the poorly-lit stretch of road at the time of the incident.

Prosecutors alleged Roberts should not have been driving since his car was too darkly tinted and he had a medical condition that sometimes caused he legs go numb and tremble.

The defence argued Roberts was driving legally at time of the incident but Cummins was dressed in dark clothing and was walking too far out into the road.

  1. Someone was killed and all you care about is the grammar? I’m sure you got the jist of what is being reported here as you obviously have such high intellect skills, however maybe not as you quite clearly failed to understand the context and chose to comment on grammatical errors. Well done
