  1. SYMPATHIES.
The government should get solar powered streetlight with camera combination out of china to replace all existing streetlights system and help the police and government solve crime.
It will deter crime as people know they will be caught by the police.

  2. This is getting out of hand, Is it lack of jobs or hometraining or father figures, the music? Idk but something has to be done. Feels like everyday atp.

  3. I’ve said this many times before, this is the type of Antigua that the people want. Every action has a reaction, and it’s time we start using less jokes on social media, fight law enforcement less, and stop making everything about politics! This country belongs to the people, but we’re too blind to see that we’re the fuel behind the chaos in the making. Every day, we sit and post without any real knowledge or sense, demoralizing the people who risk their lives to help and lifting up the criminals who will, at some point, bring all hell to our doorstep! As always, it’s only a problem when it hits home.

  4. The society has denigrated into a real frightening one. Everyday is something else with no end in sight. Making it through the day and night without any drama is a real fortunate thing these days.

  5. To reply to zan it would be more the first than the last since crime is mainly driven by economic problem like inequality and last if opportunities. Music have never been a cause of crime and just a continuation of the violent movie talking point from the 80s which some use to say black people are violent by nature.

But the increase of crime are normally from state of the country like results of government policies, plus Antigua got it’s unique issues like policing. I’m curious to see the result of the census because my personal opinion COVID was a accelerant for wealth redistribution to the wealthy leaving most people hurting especially since tourism is the makes up a large number in the economy.

  6. The #chickens have come home to roost.
The reading of the #tea_leaves spoke #truth_to_facts.
The rattling bones of our ancestors sent the Message decades ago.

The #gun_kulcha which has taken roots in Antigua is not germane or relevant to Antigua alone.
The thing is, budding Nations like Antigua, Barbuda & REDONDA had the opportunity, to learn and educate [itself] on the destructive nature which CULTURAL NORMS, and there are many, that support the #gun_kulcha were able and capable of doing, yet, they (the molders of the Nation’s society)…

A… dragged their feet on putting certain policies in place to guide and mold the society.

B…put certain policies in place that exacerbated the negatives. The impromptu and poorly planned LEGALIZATION of the flowers of the female hemp plant and its byproducts.

C…the enforcement of policies which are in place to curtail such things as embezzlement, fraud etc (crimes which have a direct correlation, to the gun culture) is woefully lacking, as alluded to, by top law enforcement personnel, top government officials to include the PM, as he referenced the issue with the unauthorized purchasing of vehicles.

To those who think, that crime is not about politics is sadly mistaken. Politics is crime and crime is politics.

In the first instance, the accusations and allegations made by political opponents and leveled at each other, in order to be SELECTED to control the Nation’s monies and resources are mostly CRIMINAL in nature, yet the sham and scam ends once the votes are tallied.

Crime is politics when Antigua does not have a gun manufacturing, maybe a GUN ASSEMBLY business where the various parts are brought in separately, then assembled accordingly, yet guns are in every community, in the hands of those who wish to use them nefariously.

Now, if CRIME is not political who will be responsible for curtailing CRIMES in the Nation? Simply put the Government and the GOVERNMENT is the People. I’ll repeat this, the GOVERNMENT is the People. This means, the PEOPLE to include those that they SELECTED to the parliament, MUST be held accountable and responsible all in the same and sane vein. Anything less will produce these same results (armed robberies, home/business burglaries, armed conflicts in the streets, angry children lashing out at and turning on each other), the difference in the future, these negatives will keep rising and spreading like a WILD FIRE out of control.

    IT TAKES A VILLAGE.

  7. @eldread the Government should do every f$king thing? Gosh man when are we gonna say members of society who is illicit with the condoning of these hoodlums needs to fuc~ing stop.

  8. The government is more reactive than proactive.. Case in point just now they talking about taking a vicious dogs control bill to parliament after four pitbulls mulled a young woman. Dem nar Kay bout arwe

  9. Criminal activity will never be lessened. I walk the streets daily and the young people, at least the majority of them are of the view that our leaders are dishonest and only care about themselves and their families, so they will do whatever survive, they also want the the fancy cars and nice clothes and will do whatever to achieve them.

  10. Crime has nothing to do with politics? Is that our answer, or are we just ignorant. Politicians enact policies, so then and therefore it is one in the same.

Countries with tough laws/policies against violent crimes, hardly have these types of blatant criminal acts taking place in their country.

Lets take for instance Montserrat across the way, which have one murder every 10 years.. some may say it’s because their population is small, but do they not listen to the same music or follow the same religious systems? So what is it, other than policies of the government, the people, who enact these policies.

Let’s take another example..China who has almost 2 billion people..what is the murder rate for such a country? Look it up..are the Chinese not a poor people as well?
Go to Qatar or even the UAE, what’s the murder rate there or robberies by locals?

So saying that politicians who are put in place to enact laws that govern these types of behaviors by the people, is not the issue, is as ignorant as it gets.

This government is soft on crime, plain and simple..they have allowed, and must I say condone criminality over the years. Just look at the lacks immigration system, look at the lacks CIP systems..those are two areas that have allowed criminals to continue to infiltrate the already curropt system that Antigua thrives under. We have politicians out there saying that there is nothing wrong with the immigration system or the fact that they don’t even see a problem with bringing in workers and other unknown individuals from other places to work.

The government doesn’t even know what criminal back-ground half of these people carry, and when they over stay their visit, they are not even pursued. Just look at the Jamaican prisoner who got killed in prison, he didn’t even have papers. Sad situation, but immigration is one of the biggest problems in Antigua. Look at the Antigua Airways Debacle, where are all the Africans today? Again, these are blatant immigration policies that allowed that chaos to occur in the first place.

So if crime has nothing to do with politics, then why even vote or have elections. Crooks only like to do things in the dark, and if you don’t know who is who in your own country, how can you know who is committing crime?

So please find other things to say other than that same repeated BS. Politicians are paid to govern the country, with the emphasis on the word ” Govern”.

I don’t care who you’ll blame, but someone has to take the ax for this, and unfortunately it has to be those who are paid/elected to lead us.

Sorry! That’s just the hard truth.

  11. You have under age youths with gun, bums and vagrants with guns and these are all unlicensed firearms, so when you arrest these scums, any knowledge jumped out as to how they got these guns? It’s a very scary situation when just like that, at any moment or time you can be pounce upon by an unknown gunman who shot or even killed you for just waking up that morning and just calmly exit the scene without a trace, no camera footage, no apprehension, so this lowlife remains on our streets ready to strike at at any time again.
We often spoke of cctv cameras, but that’s not enough, our technological structure on a whole is not up to date to handle this crime wave, not even our science. Fingerprinting here is of no use, since we have no database, police in real time can’t even check a license plate and shouldn’t ALL of our officers be hooked up with a working communicating device?
With all these back roads, off roads, allies and clustered hoods, instead of buying planes for Defence Force you should think about purchasing one of those police helicopter with tracking lights, that’s the type of shit you should be looking at if you’re real serious.

  12. We can even deduced that with the latest set of citizenship given out by both ALP and UPP that the Antiguan landscape has change big time. Especially that unending amnesty done by Gaston and cutie, and all them white mafias that usually comes in once ALP in power just like Stanford did, a lot of apartheid racist land grabbers over Barbuda , names like the Oppenheimer even lending loans to our incompetent politicians administration for airport runway renovation.
And when Gaston celebrate Caucasian as wealthy saying he is a dog who can sniff them out, that alienate and emasculate the black child into feeling like a child of a lesser god and become desperate to achieve by any means necessary, since they see broke politicians hitting the jackpot of election to office for self enrichment, and suddenly have this conspicuous consumption and acquiring properties and cars and lots of friends who will even jump ship from whatever organization or ideology to join the gang of get rich quick scheme.
These politicians influence these young people to a life of crime as they clearly show only them and their white handlers could live in opulence.

  13. @JR
This is not the forum for you, we here are having a civil discussion for nation building, not emotionalism and dirty language that your ability is limited to. Desist from been keyboard Happy and don’t allow your fingers to go ahead of your brain on the keyboard.
Have a good day as the country await your entry into a civil discussion of nation building and not identity politics and emotionalism.

  14. It’s sad that these young criminals insist on biting the hand that feeds them. Instead of attacking innocent farmers and others for what they worked hard to earn, why not think of a business idea such as work out an arrangement with a farmer to sell some of his produce in an underserved community or buy the produce and start a soup shop selling vegetable soups. Everyone wants to be healthy these days but healthy food can be hard to find. Sell vegetable based dishes near workplaces and I guarantee that you will make a profit. If the young men can’t cook then should invest in the girlfriends they are trying to impress with the flashy outfits purchased with other people’s money. Fella runs the backend of the business while the girlfriend preps the meals or something like that. Start small with a few pots and pans then move up to a small portable cookshop then up to a food truck etc. Slow and steady wins the race. Society should teach young people business stories from successful people so they understand that they too can work their way up the right way. Leave other people and their subben alone.
