Man in custody following incident in Villa in which policeman was robbed of his firearm

1. Wow… so it took a police man to be rob to find the perpetrator? Smfh

2. So easy he Tek wey the policeman gun? And how they know they have the right person?
   Many times people like to say that more people should have guns but if a policeman can be relieved of his “tool” so easily, what chance has a civilian?
   So instead of trying to get firearms , People, pressure the govt that you voted for to double and triple their efforts to take away the guns!

3. Look how soon the police find the perpetrator?!

   How is it when someone in authority is attacked or harmed in someway the immediacy is palpable?

   For 2 years now Antiguans have been screaming out for action against rising gun crimes, and on the whole we’ve been largely ignored by the Attorney General Steadroy Benjamin, Police Commissioner Attlee Rodney and the lack lustre Prime Minister Gaston Browne.

   Very pleased with the outcome thus far on this evolving case, but consistent policing is what the country needs. The relevant authorities have no excuses now after this development.

4. Something look rotten. Man got on mask, assume he is aware he didn’t only robbed the store but relieved an officer of his gun which is very serious, now unless this guy is a total idiot no way they should ketch him so quick.
   Watch the video the man at the counter seems to care less a gun is being pointed at him, plus no real Pic of behind the counter or the officer himself. The robber didn’t even ordered them to the floor or lock them in the back, dude just kept on doing what he had to do while two man stood there.
   Just suppose the officer was strapped with an ankle holster or another weapon of some sort? This quick apprehension seems a bit foul. Are they trying to show things are working? Gloria supermarket robbery had an enjoyable carnival, plus the one who held the kid in his arm.

5. This incident must of been embarrassing for Attlee and the force so I can imagine him reading the riot act to his staff, deploying dozens of officers, approving overtime, etc. to investigate and track down the individual who robbed his boy of a government-issued firearm in record time; 24 hours!

   If only this type of police response was given to similar armed robbery cases affecting the average Antiguan.

6. Tell Atlee Rodney that Dominicans live in Antigua too. So if he dont care about Antiguan people care about us Dominicans who live here in all this crime infested country.
   Wha Government nar give you vehicle nor gas to patrol? You got teargas and rubber bullet to gas peaceful protestors though.

7. I still advocate for a pathway for citizens to be able to be issued conceal firearm carry license; after a comprehensive cognitive evaluation. The certainty that someone unknown might be strapping, would give cause to the perpetrators of these heinous crimes, to think of the consequences that they would most certainly be neutralized on sight. Stop all this pussyfooting and rationalize that power comes from the muzzle of a gun; in the rightful hand of a vetted individual entitle to be so armed; for the protection of persons, life and property. This is the reality of the space we live in, and the brazen callousness of the scrooges victimizing our collective society is indeed abhorrent. The law enforcement operatives need the assurance that the citizenry is in partnership to stem or, eradicate the elements of criminal activities nation wide, in real time. But for the entrenchment of the British Colonial Mentality: Might as well revert to giving the officers a baton, and the criminals the gun.
