Man implicated in theft of police firearm beaten by masked men in Villa

Police report that a robbery suspect is currently receiving treatment at a hospital after being attacked and beaten by masked men in Villa last night. The suspect initially claimed he had been shot, but no gunshot wounds were discovered when he arrived at the hospital. However, he did sustain injuries consistent with being struck by a blunt object.

The suspect is linked to the recent robbery of a policeman’s firearm during an armed robbery at the Pearl River Supermarket in Villa earlier this month. Authorities are considering charging him for that crime in the coming days.
