A Potters man has been ordered to pay $10,000 within three months or serve prison time after admitting to a 2022 burglary in which he stole Apple electronics and jewellery.
Timothy Anthony was sentenced in the High Court on Tuesday by Justice Tunde Bakre, who directed him to pay $8,000 in compensation to the victim and a $2,000 fine to the state by September. Failure to do so will result in incarceration.
The burglary occurred on 16 November 2022, while the homeowner was away. Security footage captured Anthony on the property in distinctive clothing, helping police identify him.
Among the stolen items were an iPad Pro 12.9, AirPods Pro, accessories, silver jewellery, a weed whacker, and a fuel container.
Anthony, who pleaded guilty on 15 May, told the court he had since turned his life around and is now working as a farmer. Defence attorney Wendel Robinson assisted during sentencing, while prosecutor Daniel Lattery represented the Crown.

@food4thought….are you serious?
It’s a valid question. Jails are set up to fail people a failure to society just segregating people not teaching them anything or helping their situation, when it’s all done it makes it harder to get jobs. Then people are surprised that people goes straight back into jail like no shit aint the repeat offenders are like 70%+ or something stupid like that
Exposing yourself to going to jail is a matter of choice or maybe is the weed you all smoking having the upper hand causing you all to commit crimes.
I basically explained my issue with jail in the first post. It’s just make things worst for people so are in the system them people are surprised that they are back in jail. Who are most likely to commit crimes statistics who poor people commit crimes the most, petty theft, other robberies and etc the people that are most desperate. Jail does nothing to help people get out of position and most times it makes things harder so they will just end up back in jail most times. jail is a jailer to society, it doesn’t reform anyone like it says it does nor it’s a deterrent. And there goes one this old person understanding of weed, if you drink alcohol it’s no different than weed only crime you can do its driving under the influence, smoking weed don’t make you get up and say “boi I feel like robbing someone today thanks to this joint” it’s just something people use to cope. Rich people, white all kind of people smoke weed and cigarettes but when it comes to weed that pant that was used since our ancestor time it’s an issue. Say that about alcohol and cigarettes and see if anyone take that seriously
“…poor people commit crimes the most…”
YOU CAN LET THEM “RICH” PEOPLE FOOL YOU!!! IF YOU KNOW THE THINGS PLENTY OF THEM INVOLVED IN, YOU WOULD PISS SHAWARMA FOR DAYS!
DON’T BE FOOLED!
@Young Antiguan Communist…I hope you are doing the right thing to avoid jail.
