Police in Antigua and Barbuda are investigating a significant burglary at a construction site in Marble Hill, where thieves escaped with appliances and fixtures valued at more than EC$30,000.

The owner discovered the break-in at around 08:30 on Monday, after the property—still under construction—was reportedly secured the night before. The theft is believed to have taken place between 18:00 on Sunday and the time it was found the following morning.

Items allegedly stolen include a washing machine, dryer, refrigerator, 30-inch stove, microwave, air conditioning unit, and three televisions. Several bathroom fixtures and decorative pieces were also taken.

According to police, the intruders forced their way in through a bedroom door before exiting through a bathroom door after ransacking the building.

Investigators questioned several people in the surrounding area, but no useful information has yet been obtained. A search for the missing items was unsuccessful, and the scene has been processed for evidence.

Police say inquiries remain ongoing.

  1. The government should get solar powered streetlight with camera combination out of china to replace all existing streetlights system and help the police and government solve crimes.

  2. Thieving is really the National passtime in GANGSTERS PARADISE, much more so than Football, Cricket and Basketball combined. It is the thing we can export to other territories in the OECS. The Blue collar ones are not even the worst types.

  3. @ eldread. It would not make a difference! They will steal the copper inside the lights rendering them useless. To add insult to injury, they somehow managed to act as a magnet to cars!!

  4. 95% percent of the robberies that take place in a construction site has to do with the workers.
They know exactly what’s going on in the work site. I would investigate every one of them and make them sign a document saying if anything happens here they will be responsible to pay.

I am sure that there is a mole there or several.😎

  5. @eldread, how about just lights that actually WORK…..take a drive at night and see how many street lights are off
@visionary say that again! “White collar” thieves right in front of our noses….
@the workers, really? I have a retail store and I am very interested in hiring you but you need to sign a paper that says that if anything goes wrong with it (thef, fire, roof blown off by hurricame, etc….) you are responsible,ok?
