
A magnitude 3.7 earthquake was recorded in the eastern Caribbean early on Tuesday, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI SRC).
The tremor occurred at 5:31am local time (09:31 UTC) on 20 January 2026, at a depth of 144 kilometres. Its epicentre was located at latitude 16.34 north and longitude 61.57 west, placing it about 91 kilometres south-southeast of St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.
The quake was also reported to be 10 kilometres north-northwest of Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, and 87 kilometres southeast of Brades, Montserrat.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Antigua and Barbuda, and officials have not indicated that any tsunami threat exists.

UWI SRC said the earthquake’s location and magnitude were automatically generated by computer algorithms and may be revised following further analysis by its scientists.
The Seismic Research Centre continues to monitor activity across the region and has advised residents to remain informed through official channels.
