
A light earthquake struck in the eastern Caribbean on Monday afternoon, according to preliminary data from the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC).
The tremor, with a magnitude of 3.7, occurred at 12:32 local time (16:32 GMT). Its epicentre was located at latitude 16.05°N, longitude 62.51°W at a depth of 53 km.
UWI-SRC reported that the quake was situated about 88 km south-west of Brades, Montserrat; 110 km west-south-west of Point-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe; and 138 km south-west of St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
The Seismic Research Centre noted that the information was generated automatically by its monitoring system and may be updated once analysts complete further review.
