
A magnitude 3.5 earthquake was recorded north of Antigua on Monday afternoon, according to the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC).
The preliminary automatic report said the tremor occurred at 2:07 p.m. local time (18:07 UTC).
The quake was located at latitude 17.92 degrees north and longitude 62.89 degrees west, at a depth of 55 kilometers.
UWI-SRC said the epicenter was approximately 146 kilometers northwest of St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda. It was also located 71 kilometers north-northwest of Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, and 146 kilometers northwest of Brades, Montserrat.
The seismic center cautioned that the location was automatically generated by computer algorithms and remains subject to revision following analysis.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Antigua.
