Louisa Simon
Louisa “Sister B” or “Ms. Baby” Simon was born on the 29th day of May, 1922 in St. John’s, Antigua to parents Mary Brand and Mark Simon now both deceased.
She grew up in Cedar Grove but later moved to All Saints village where she worked as a house maid for some time. She also dabbled in some farming and gardening. She then moved to Yorks village where she resided for most of her years before migrating to the Bronx, New York where she now resides.
Louisa has always been a loving, honest, caring and devout Jehovah’s Witness. She could always be heard and seen spreading the word of God to those in her community and beyond before migrating to the US. It was those same positive character traits that ‘Sister B’ instilled in her eight (8) children Leroy Ford, Rufus James (deceased), Hellen O’Garro-Harris, George Dunning, Jerome Dunning-Simon, Alico O’Garro, Sharon O’Garro and Jenese O’Garro while raising them on her own.
Despite being a single mother, Louisa a true caregiver, ensured that food was always on the table and clothes on our backs and education was a priority in our household. It was a job she took very seriously. Those same traits were once again passed along to her fifteen (15) grandchildren and twenty-one (21) great-grandchildren as she had the opportunity to play a part in raising them as well.
Her love, kindness and generosity towards others is something that has come to bless her tenfold as she was able to see her bloodline grow through four (4) generations. She is the best mom you can ever have in your corner.
We her children and grandchildren of four (4) generations wishes her God’s blessings and we want to let everyone know that we could not have made it without her. MOM thank you for all the sacrifices you made for us when you had no other help but God. You stayed strong to the end. THANK YOU we cannot say it enough. HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY MOM and may God continue to share his blessings with you.
WE LOVE YOU MOM

ONE THOUGHT OR TWO
Congratulations “Sister B” on your 101 years of Excellence!
Respect and honor Ms.Louisa Simon, SGOE (Senior Grandparent Order of Excellence)!
Our venerable, noble, native Centenarians, descendants of our heroic, enslaved African ancestors had few choices within the economic and education systems of colonialism and slavery to earn a living: “Washing, cleaning, working in the canefield and picking cotton.”
Their labor produced the economic wealth and cultural benefits of our colonizers.
Our Centenarians survived by practicing the fundamental economic principle: “Eat a little, save a little, spend a little.”
And spiritually, they internalized hope of a better life, faith, through religion.
“All knowledge in the World belongs to everybody in the World.”
So our Centenarians ask our students/youths: “What’s in your hand?” And they answer, cell phone – smartphone, iPhone, tablet – a computer! That’s ‘a walking university’! Without any confession of guns, items used to harm others and self-destruct! And the followup is: “What do you use it for? Only entertainment? Aren’t you learning anything to earn a living and start businesses?
“A people (especially our youths) without knowledge of their past history, origin and culture is like a tree without roots.”
Our Centenarians are probably shocked, sorrowful and praying when they hear the Headlines about the violence of our (PUBLIC SCHOOL) youths; such a prayer: “Let them learn about the God-given-ancestral POWER that’s within them, use it to achieve the necessary knowledge and skills for their human capital development and combine it with financial capital to produce goods and services for their benefits and the Nation/Village.”
Let us interact with humility, grace, good intentions! Be nice to each other!
Save our Humanity, Save our Youths, Save our Environment, Save our Soil!!!
Respect
