Dr. Joey John, a local medical practitioner, is identified as an “interested party” in the potential purchase of the closed Cancer Centre.
Investors, seeking to go beyond mere reopening, propose an innovative anti-cancer treatment method hinging on quadrant excision, mainly used in breast cancer but applicable to various procedures.
The technique involves removing a quarter of tissue while preserving surroundings. These investors claim their method could cure cancer types without resorting to radiation or chemotherapy, providing a holistic approach.
They offer reduced costs for Antigua and Barbuda nationals, pledging to repair existing machines for traditional treatments.
The Cabinet, reconvening Wednesday, evaluates this proposal among others. If approved, the Cancer Centre may reopen by the first quarter’s end, initially established in 2015 for OECS cancer patients, providing radiotherapy to private and Medical Benefits Scheme-covered patients.

Hang on! Am I missing something here? An,”interested party? ” Thought the government saw the indespensability of having this center available to help the average citizen of Antigua and Barbuda and were going to procure it for that purpose? Joey John, huh? The doctor who is on record saying that if we don’t take the ‘vaccine ‘ we’re doomed? The same who was asked to conceal Lester Bird’s illness(if we can believe anything Gaston Browne says)? I’m just saying.
What an untrustworthy, clandestine, corrupt government we have here. Is anything they say worth a lick?
Why not lease the property rather than sell to avoid a flip in the future. Unless this is a front man undertaking. Is this doctor a specialist and in what?
What’s with the pic of breaking ground. I thought we already had a cancer center that needed upgrading? Now the good Dr. wants to reinvent the center for his own enrichment. People will try anything to get a second chance at living. But what do we, normal people of Antigua know about his new science experiment 🤔. Can we even afford his treatments, whatever they are. Read the article by a daughter desperately trying to bring her mother back to Antigua after treatments abroad. Will the everyday person have to travel for their treatment to avoid being a science experiment?
