The government says it will move to demolish several derelict, state-owned buildings in St. John’s as part of a wider effort to clean up and renew the capital.
Speaking on the Browne and Browne programme on Pointe FM over the weekend, Rawdon Turner said the initiative will include buildings owned by the state, as government intensifies enforcement alongside private-sector compliance.
Turner said government agencies have already been directed to clear out affected properties, with demolition work expected to follow as part of ongoing urban renewal efforts.
He said the move forms part of a broader strategy to address urban decay, improve public safety and enhance the overall appearance of St. John’s.
