Prime Minister Gaston Browne has accused the opposition United Progressive Party of presenting a false image of unity ahead of the general election.
Speaking on Pointe FM’s Browne and Browne Show, Browne said the party is internally divided despite public appearances.
“They are totally disunited but pretending as though they have a team,” Browne said.
He also suggested there is a lack of coordination within the opposition, with individuals acting independently rather than as a cohesive group.

Dear Editor,
I write to you today as a concerned citizen of Antigua, deeply troubled by the current state of our nation. While we are told that politics is at play, we see a country falling asleep on its own rules and laws.
Just recently, a contract was awarded for bus stops with glass installations—only for vandals to destroy them, and even solar lights to be stolen. There were no trash cans, no surveillance—no one was put in place to manage them. Similarly, a slew of roads were built but now deteriorate due to poor engineering, especially around drainage. These aren’t isolated incidents; they reflect a broader pattern where people are no longer put first.
Our Prime Minister, who calls himself “Gassy Dread,” divides his time between governance and a reggae persona—yet his hands are full of scandals. From a road project now crumbling to a $2 million car scandal—signed off by his wife—no real accountability follows. Meanwhile, a young girl was murdered, and still no arrests. Guns are circulating; sentences are reduced; and the youth of this country pay the price. We have a CIP program that once drew investment, but now bars people from the U.S., and our healthcare is in shambles—MRI machines sit idle because we don’t even have a monthly maintenance contract.
We are talking about facts—the cost of living, rising gas prices—while the so-called progress is a front for corruption. We need a leader who doesn’t stoop to insults on the radio but works with class, with respect, and with a clear vision. It’s time we demand the truth. It’s time we make Antigua great again—for all of us.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Citizen
