Prime Minister Gaston Browne says persistent water complaints in parts of the country are “unacceptable,” indicating that accountability measures may follow if distribution problems are not resolved.
Speaking on the Browne and Browne Show on Pointe FM, Browne said Antigua and Barbuda is currently producing approximately 11 million gallons of water daily, suggesting that shortages are not due to insufficient production capacity .
The prime minister pointed instead to distribution challenges, including infrastructure management and system inefficiencies, as the source of ongoing complaints from residents .
He said that while investments have been made to increase national water output, service interruptions in certain communities remain a concern and must be addressed.
Browne signaled that officials responsible for ensuring proper distribution will be expected to correct the issues, stressing that the public cannot continue to experience inconsistent supply despite expanded production capacity.
The remarks come amid heightened attention to water access across several communities, with residents raising concerns about irregular service.

The water department needs very close monitoring. It cannot be that they claim to produce 14milion gallons of water per day, yet they cannot distribute it. There are still pockets in the country that are not getting water on a consistent basis. Someone needs to look at the distribution managers. Who is deliberately closing valves for days, having some areas out of water. Melford stop protecting them.
They make this sound like just a political issue. An edict by the honourable PM cannot in itself fix the water issue. There are infrastructure investments and changes that are needed and maintenance plans need to be put in place. They ignore advice from real engineers in order to save money so they can waste on other things. They will keep promising and promising and making small improvements until after the next election.

It’s going to any other Administration years and years to repair the damage you people have caused. Years ago I thought Molwyn could have redeemed this country but he succumbed to the trappings of power.
