Browne Says Some UPP Members in Antigua and Barbuda Preparing to Join Labour Party

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has claimed that internal divisions within the opposition United Progressive Party (UPP) are prompting some of its members to consider joining the governing Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP).

Speaking during his weekly appearance on the Browne and Browne show on Pointe FM, Browne said several individuals associated with the UPP have indicated they plan to align themselves with the Labour Party in the near future.

He said some of those individuals include former party executives and branch-level members who, according to him, have expressed concerns about the viability of the opposition party in its current form.

Browne also suggested that dissatisfaction within the opposition is contributing to the potential shift, adding that some members believe the party may need to rebuild its political brand.

He did not identify the individuals he claimed were preparing to leave the UPP.

The prime minister said the Labour Party remains open to welcoming supporters from across the political spectrum, adding that broader unity could benefit the country.

The United Progressive Party is the main opposition party in Antigua and Barbuda.

  1. and is so they join is so the going get big position while the labor dogs remain barking at the wheel.

  2. Was tempted to use Baldwin’s lament about having them surrounded. However, the fact is the UPP has been a sinking ship for far too long. Their situation endangers others. we need to do the humane thing and torpedo them

  3. Gaston Browne as his usual self, trying to muddy the waters of the opposition just before the St Phillip’s North by-election.

Is anybody really surprised by Browne anymore?

I don’t believe a word from him about UPP so-called defections; but let’s say he’s correct for once in he life. Then all the possible detectors only have to look at wha’ happen to Anthony ‘Judas’ Smith, and how the All Saints West electorate no longer trust him on whatever he says or do.

So if any UPP members are silly enough about thinking of jumping ship like ‘Pieces of Eight’ Smith, then they must look no further then how he’s now perceived as duplicitous in the eyes of the country as a whole.

Mind you, look out for more destabilising of the UPP by Browne and his cohorts incoming … 💯 percent guaranteed!

ABLP couldn’t win a fair fight or election if they tried – isn’t politricks nasty?

  4. @tenman law enforcement should arrest you for making a public threat when you say “toroedo them.”
A “torpedo” is a missile just like a bomb or bullet which does serious bodily harm to individuals. As usual the ABLP rhetoric when they’re losing is to use threats of violence to cover their own crimes.
Would you want a Serian to torpedo your house because you live in their neighborhood?
Let’s hope you’re around when Alex Browne wins to clean up the shit from Gaston’s pull up since you’re his number one shit cleaner.

  5. @Arrest, you never know that Tenman is irreligious and ignorant, and has limited vocabulary that beggars belief! Mind you, its par the course for Gastonite supporters.

Mind you, who’s surprised at their disgusting behaviour, because didn’t Gaston Browne call Barbudans “deracinated imbeciles?”, and then go on to threaten to “thump” the late Asot Michael?

St Phillip’s North constituents please do the right thing on the 16th of March, and rescue the SOUL OF OUR COUNTRY…

    • @Brix.. we all know your mouth changes based on the persons political camp. To your mind blue can do no wrong which shows you are a fanatic. You well know the right thing is for them(my next constituency) to vote in ABLP and not someone who school children say if it was not for Robin, he would be in prison. Anyway we harbor no ill feeling, come celebrate Randy’s win with us, red wine sharing (kool aid is for kids)

  6. @tenman (not into the politics) congrats for your racing yesterday (cycling) and first place finish in sports class. You pressured them fellas, but we coming for you next race

  7. Not that I believe anything Gaston says, but even if that happens so what, most people involved in politics in Antigua are in politics for money not because they care about people or country so they will gravitate to ABLP where corruption is a way of life, ask windbag Dwayne George, Anthony Smith, Evergreen Chaia and the others too numerous to mention

  8. @ Tenman, please don’t do a disappearing act like you normally do when things do not go ABLP’S way (aka, the Alpha Nero; the missing Africans; the vehicle acquisitions procurement scandal etc, etc…)

I expect you to disappear on the 17th of March as well when Randy Baltimore is well beaten by Alex Browne.

Please, please, I beg, don’t disappear again 🤣

    • @Brix. stop with your wishful thinking, i am always here.. eg. tenman June 25, 2023 At 3:52 pm

“Lovell says that Antigua and Barbuda’ name has come up in
every country where illegal West Africans have been intercepted,”…..

What lies the L one continues to tell (Antigua had no investment in Antigua Airline ……

  9. @ Gaston

What’s the price the turn coats are asking?

Is it anyway near the $6,000,000.00 Anthony ‘Judas’ got or the big jeep Dwayne George received.
Anybody you attract from the UPP are all Abominations unto themselves, because up to the time you told them all they NEED TO BE SANATISED BECAUSE THEY ARE COMMITTING POLITICAL SUICIDE THEY ARE STILL SELLING THEIR SOULS AND INTEGRITY (if they had any to begin with) FOR 30 pieces of silver!!

    WHAT A TING

  10. I want you UPP senior politicians to come over to the ALP because the usa government day they will only work with a new administration.
Upp possess politicians of intelligence and integrity.

  11. MORE GREEDY HORSES LEAVING THE UPP TO FEED AT THE TROUGH OF THE GBLP/ABLP.THEN WHEN THAT FOOD RUNS OUT AND THE TROUGH IS EMPTY.THEN WHAT?

  12. I wonder if all of these UPPers jumping ship is a good thing for the ABLP. They come with their bad characters and that cost lots of laborites discomfort. I think they need to be baptized in the ABLP philosophy before they can be accepted. Same thing when you want to join a church. You will have to be baptized.

  13. @ Less We Forget, it’s nice to know that you haven’t lost your sense of humour (I give that to you boss 👍🏾) especially when you chit chat ’bout “they [UPP] need to be baptised in the ABLP philosophy before they can be accepted”

And what may the ABLP philosophy be @Less We Forget?

    Let me guess:

    1) A lack of transparency in financial matters
    2) Never ever criticise Gaston Browne
    3) Responding to FOI requests gets you sacked
    4) outstanding wages are paid in run-ups to GE
    5) If crime figures go up say nothing
    6) Whatever the PM says goes
    7) Make promises to the electorate you can’t keep

    8) If you defection from the UPP, you’ll be fast-tracked above seasoned ABLP members

    9) Tell gullible people that a fete or dance will cure their ills

    10) volunteer around Xmas time to hand out turkeys and hams to the credulous

Is that the ABLP philosophy in a nutshell @Less We Forget?

Thanks again, you set yourself up there 👍🏾
