PM Browne Rallies Supporters for Clean Sweep in Next Elections
Prime Minister Gaston Browne has issued a rallying cry to supporters of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party (ABLP), declaring that the party is “strong and united” and poised for total victory at the next general elections.
Speaking at the AT&LU Labour Day Rally on Monday morning, Browne said the ABLP must prepare now for a full mobilisation effort, warning that failure to decisively defeat the opposition could endanger the country’s future.
“There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth within the UPP because at the end of the day we’re going to beat them mercilessly,” he told the crowd. “We’re doing it for you, the people, because when you have destructive elements in your society who are trying to destroy your country, you have to demolish them.”
Browne urged ABLP members and supporters to be ready for the battle ahead and to begin organising in every constituency.
“I say that this institution must be in a state of readiness. We must be in a position that if we call elections tomorrow, we win all of the seats. We want nothing less than a clean sweep,” he declared.
He added that allowing the United Progressive Party to continue in its current form would be a threat to national development.
“If we do not destroy the UPP in its present form, it will actually get stronger to destroy our country,” he said.
Browne’s remarks came as part of a broader address marking Labour Day, during which he called for solidarity, progress, and unity among workers and citizens.

Where is Maria? Have the Russian aliens abducted her?
Maria is deeply concerned about the personal lawsuits regarding the Alfa Nero and is considering leaving politics to save her sanity.
“If we do not destroy the UPP………it will actually get stronger………”
You are right Gaston Browne.
You helped impose a weak leader in the UPP.
You have to ensure that he is there whenever you call an elections.
If you allow Richard Lewis to take the leadership it will smell doom and gloom for you and ALP.
I beg you to give us a little bit of more time to get Richard there.
Antiguans want to see the back of you.
They just do not want Pringle
I agree with them.
Just give us a little time to do right and you will se how quickly we will get rid of you.
Richard Lewis is the next prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda
Does anybody think like me? We have never had a full 5 year term since 2014! Isn’t that a set of premature babies and no full term? Only the wise will get it!
The government surely will not call the election until the roads are repaired and the water problems solve , so this is just idle talk. PM is a political animal, very savvy and will keep the UPP scrambling like headless chickens if they follow him.
What the opposition needs to do is do this properly, especially in choosing their candidates.
PM is suggesting a clean sweep in the next election and at the present state of the UPP it is possible. Richard Lewis can easily loose his seat. I am not seeing serpent getting a second term, his weakness as a candidate and politician has been exposed. A good solid candidate can dispose of Bowen ( always preferred Shawn Nicholas. Shugy is not the candidate he was during the last election- he too has weakened, not grown as a politician or representative in parliament. He needs to spend time reading, practicing public speaking, educating himself- can you some help from D. Gisele Isaac, Pearl and Jackie Quinn in public speaking. Don’t see Dave George as a strong candidate either , otherwise Shugy gone. Randy will surely take over that seat for Robin( Randy is as corrupt as can be even before he holds office, Antigua people don’t care he will win.
Pringle is sitting on a rock solid seat. Heard the PM almost tell Lamin Newton that it’s a one shot, do or die, which is unfair. This has been the strongest of the UPP seats. Lamin Newton has matured, grown as an individual and academically. Pringle this is not tricky Colin , you have a real fight on your hands.
All Saints West do not have a good candidate on either side. Anthony Smith is a waste of time. Different that he disrespected the people and behaved like he voted for himself. He doesn’t seem to have a connection with the people. Either he is embarrassed or afraid to look people eye to eye and hide behind social media. On the other hand is opponent, was really impressive in her campaign and run for president of ABFA. However, since she has been chosen as the UPP candidate for All Saints West she has not shown any individual interest. As it stands right now she seems to be a far different better candidate running for football then for All Saints MP.
So as I said if is highly possible that ABLP can sweep the next election. UPP will have a lot of convincing to show, especially how they have conducted themselves from the last general elections to now.
It seems like all the UPP candidates are just waiting around for things to happen for them. None of them seems proactive. Not the MP’s of the caretakers.
