LIAT Workers’ Compensation Talks in Limbo as Government and Union Clash

1

Development Commissioner Daven Joseph is optimistic about a potential resolution in the severance matter for former LIAT 1974 Limited employees.

While the government offered to cover 50 percent of the severance, the Antigua and Barbuda Workers Union (ABWU) insisted on 100 percent, leading to an impasse.

With LIAT’s closure, the issue has resurfaced, prompting concerns from Ambassador Joseph, who criticized the union for fostering false hope among its members.

As LIAT is now in receivership, Ambassador Joseph emphasizes the importance of shareholder goodwill in determining compensation.

He urges the union to be realistic, engage in dialogue with the government, and expresses hope for a positive outcome if discussions resume promptly.

  1. To all those who voted for Gaston Browne, ask yourselves if he is working for you and the citizens of Antigua and Barbuda or himself by way of as he stated, creative self enrichment.

Ask yourself another question. Do you think Gaston would accept his offer of 30% if he was a LIAT employee? Your answer should determine how you vote next elections.

You next vote should be according to what you think that answer is. No one should ever be loyal to any party or MP. You vote for the person who represents you and your community.

Gaston has proven time and time again he is in it for himself and his own personal gain. This is also true of other MP’s and they too must be voted out.

If any of you think the Chinese are our “friends” they are not. China wants to own our country and will if we don’t stop the government (that is not currently representing our best interests) from putting our future and our country at risk. We did not like being a colony of the UK. It will be worse when China owns us.

Ask yourselves why Taiwan and Hong Kong want to break away from China. China is now sending military to Taiwan. Don’t think they won’t do the same with us once we are owned by them.

Vote for the MP that works for you. See through all the free ham, turkey, microwave, driver’s license and the rest of the typical items MP’s use to bribe you. So called free concerts (One Nation) are not free. Our taxes paid for that instead of updating and upgrading our infrastructure. Water, electricity, deplorable roads (causing damage to our vehicles and expensive repairs), hospital, agriculture buildings, police buildings are not important to Gaston Browne. And that’s why our country is in shambles.

Vote for the future and independence of your country. Vote for your future generations of your family. Party’s are not loyal to you. The current government is the epitome of that.
