LIAT Air is expanding beyond the Caribbean with plans to launch flights to Miami and mainland Africa next year.

The Antigua-based airline also signed a memorandum of understanding with a local company backed by Colombian investors to begin weekly charter flights to Colombia starting in September.

The new routes are part of LIAT Air’s strategy to grow its global presence and meet rising demand—particularly in health and wellness tourism.

The airline says the move reflects its commitment to innovation and positioning itself as a major player in regional aviation.

  1. Pray tell, what aircraft will LIAT use to fly to Africa? Not those small island hoppers? Does LIAT presently have an aircraft capable of flying direct to Africa?

  2. If we are having flights to Columbia
They may as well have flights to Ukraine Russia and Gaza. 🤣🤣🤣 what a comedy

  3. White lady white chalk hit and run come back to buy the 737. Liat and Air peace are brothers and sisters lol.

  4. A Caribbean airline stepping into international markets? It’s about time. LIAT’s move to tap into the wellness tourism market in Colombia is genius, this is how you stay relevant.

  5. A direct link to Miami is long overdue and will benefit thousands in the diaspora. But let’s also ensure prices remain competitive and service improves across the board.

  6. Antiguans and Barbudans always have a problem with progress. Be happy for the strides that this wonderful country of ours is making. Every time this country steps out, most of us have a problem. Take for instance the education levy that most of us children and grandchildren are enjoying now. It was a problem. So when would be time for Antigua and Barbuda to grow and make that difference in this world? Just asking my countrymen and women.

It’s not that “most of us have a problem” with business ventures. Antigua has always been a place where money passes through and support businesses.
It’s about ACCOUNTABILITY when it comes to the public monies; that is the problem.

  8. @Streetman.

Antigua is in no position to make a difference in this world, not with this corrupt GOVERNMENT who is all about money and not about the safety of his citizens.

Antigua is not currently leading in anything in the Caribbean, and that’s a direct result of this lackluster government who continues to levy heavy taxes on its citizenship, with very little to show for it.

Why is gun violence and crime so rampant in such a small island? Why so much drugs and mad people?

That’s not leading at anything. Antigua is way behind on many things, many.

And the people have a right to call out the foolishness, whether it’s coming from you brother or your enemy.

  9. I applaud and appreciate the dreams and the goal-setting, however, do we understand the costs involved in running such an operation? This isn’t a “let us bait the public with promises and see how they react” type if thing. There has to be proper planning, sufficient resources, credible track record, a solid customer base, and proper management, among other things, to be in place before venturing into the unknown. Without these critical things, it would just be “throwing money down a rabbit hole” !!
