LIAT Air Plans Latin America Expansion From 2026

LIAT Air has announced plans to expand its route network into Central and South America from 2026, with Panama, Belize and Colombia among the destinations under consideration.

The airline’s chief financial officer, Kunle Ibrahim, said the expansion would build on recent growth aimed at improving links between the Eastern Caribbean and major regional hubs.

The plans follow LIAT’s first flight to the Dominican Republic, with Santo Domingo becoming the carrier’s latest destination. The addition brings LIAT’s network to 17 destinations across 14 countries.

Mr Ibrahim described the Dominican Republic as a key market, highlighting its importance for tourism, trade and onward international travel. He said the airline was also exploring the possibility of serving other airports within the country.

The proposed expansion into Latin America would mark a significant step for LIAT, strengthening air connections beyond the Caribbean and supporting increased movement of people, goods and services across the region.
