OK seriously… if this is just Antigua, what does LIAT owe to other territories? The Management need to at least make an account for this? Taxes were collected but not paid in to the tune of $5M? What was the monies used for? Let’s get the CEO in and the one before her to answer some serious questions.
LIAT has no CEO.She resigned some months ago.Antigua Cabinet could forgive all of LIAT’s debts. However,LIAT still owes many individual businesses in Antigua and around the greater Caribbean millions of $$$$$.Are those companies, municipalities and individuals willing to forgive LIAT of such debts? LIAT is riddled and burdened by debts.Have you ever seen the picture of Atlas. With the world on his shoulders. That is LIAT in 2020.Poor LIAT.
Yes but come on. This kind of debt doesn’t accumulate overnight. Was LIAT never audited? Where are the financial reports? Yes she resigned months ago but she and all the others before her must be called to answer and be held accountable for their tenure.
If a Cabinet can forgive, why can’t human beings do the same for each other? No use holding on to bitterness, strife, envy and badmind. Forgiveness also has positive health benefits.
Does the Cabinet have a choice? Your comparison therefore makes no sense. Although I am not against the principle of human forgiveness.
This is a bit strange why if he was appointed by the court and now he’s submitting his report to Browne shouldn’t he have submitted the report to the court this ain’t looking right is that the way things are done in Antigua and all of his findings should have been itemize in full detail not just saying and a variety of other taxes to the tune of $457.000
is that what is called pocket change in Antigua ??.
And the report that he submitted is the total indebtedness of the airline to Antigua. and he will be doing that to all creditors with the goal to have all the debts by the shareholder governments written off. So Antigua is the first that has agreed to do so. Lets hope the others can see the wisdom and do the same. If not it will just show how badminded they are.
