CARIBBEAN NEWS NOW: With the introduction of the new route, LIAT 2020 is prepared to provide direct flights to Dominica from Antigua and Barbuda. The flight fare has been disclosed, with a starting price of US$99 plus tax, as the airline will resume its regional air connectivity on its previous routes.

Travellers wishing to see Dominica’s breathtaking scenery may now make flight reservations thanks to an invitation from LIAT 2020. It will strengthen the ties between LIAT 2020 and the Dominica’s tourism sector.

The airline was reopened following LIAT’s 1974 closure because the COVID-19 epidemic prevented it from gaining business. Since AirPeace made the majority of the investment, the government of Antigua and Barbuda launched LIAT 2020 with the assistance of the Nigerian firm.

After completing all required procedures and protocols, the airline was able to obtain the AOC and resume flying in time for the start of commercial operations in the first week of August 2024.

VC Bird International Airport hosted the first direct route landing from Saint Lucia. Antigua and Barbuda government representatives, including Prime Minister Gaston Browne, attended the airline’s launch ceremony.

Greetings to the airline; PM Browne stated that because it offers direct service throughout the Caribbean, the company represents regional togetherness. LIAT 2020 plans to extend its services to several other Caribbean countries to increase its market share in North America.

LIAT 2020 also revealed the flight itinerary from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, and Saint Lucia. The returning service runs from Antigua to Saint Lucia and then from Saint Lucia to Barbados.

The aircraft, including 301 and 302, operate a direct flight service on the route with varying departure and arrival times.

  1. Is the article referring to Dominica or the Dominican Republic? It starts of with one island then speaks of another one later in the story.

  2. Article mentions strengthening tourism ties between Dominican Republic. I hope the writer is aware that Commonwealth of Dominica is not the Dominican Republic 😕 😐 … well I hope they do.
Sigh, with the way things are set…. I just hope they do.

  3. It’s either you guys have a comprehension problem, or you’re just trying to stir up something. Could also be you’re from DR and just wishing on a star.

  4. esperamos que el honorable gaston brown se tome un minuto de su tiempo y hagamos vuelos hacia republica dominicana ya que sky es una linea muy cara en 1:05 minutos llegan a cobrar 861.00 us por un boleto de avion.

  5. @Carvaa if this is the original news item, it goes to show that many lack comprehension skills and are prepared to jump on a bandwagon without fact checking themselves.

  6. Is the price one way or round trip. Be aware that DIRECT is not the same as NONSTOP. Direct flights can make one or more stops en route but you should not have to get off the plane.
LIAT was always a money pit. I see no actual evidence that it will not remain so. I expect cabinet ministers, their friends, family, supporters and cronies will all get free or discounted tickets and that is the real reason tax payers will be footing the losses of this albatross airline for 50 more years.

  7. it’s simple math with the price $99 us = $270. then add taxes a one way fare is like $400 or so . currently one way on other airlines are 500.

  8. To hell with liat we have been doing ok without them for 4 years now in November a new ferry service will be in action for Barbados st Lucia Trinidad Guyana st Vincent who needs liat I hope they not letting them collect any departure fees make them pay all landing fees monthly so that when they go belly up at least you will be only out a month fee don’t get burn by liat twice they have the biggest con men in the world as a partner.
