LIAT 2020 CEO Hafsah Abdulsalam Highlights Strategic Importance of St. Vincent as New Hub for Regional Travel

LIAT 2020’s CEO, Hafsah Abdulsalam, addressed a gathering in St. Vincent yesterday to mark the airline’s inaugural flight to the island, emphasizing the strategic role St. Vincent and the Grenadines will play in the airline’s expansion.

“We have carefully considered St. Vincent as a vital strategic hub in our operations,” Abdulsalam stated, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome. She highlighted the significance of St. Vincent as a natural choice for the airline’s southern Caribbean base, noting that the location aligns with LIAT’s goal of fostering integrated travel within the region.

Abdulsalam acknowledged the support from St. Vincent’s Prime Minister, cabinet, airport authorities, and other partners, which she described as crucial to establishing the new route. “At every step in our quest to expand further south, we have been met with support,” she remarked.

LIAT 2020 plans to establish St. Vincent not only as a flight destination but as a hub for cargo, businesses, students, and families. Abdulsalam expressed confidence that this expansion will strengthen inter-regional connectivity and looked forward to the continued support of Caribbean travelers.

“We hope to serve the people of the Caribbean for the long term,” she concluded.

  1. How many planes does LIAT2020 have in operation right now????????? Not taking about planes that are parked in the Hangars , that need fixing or negotiating with CDB or Air piece for. I am asking about planes that are being used right now. That will determine if I book my inter-regional flights with LIAT 2020. Not booking no flight with no carrier with one or two planes. I am afraid of being left at airports because of flight breakdown or some scheduling problem and the airline doesn’t have another to fill the gap.

  2. LIAT has 1 operational ATR-42-600 and uses 2 Nigerian ERJ-145 regional jets on ACMI and that is it, LIAT 2020 is a joke after 4 years.
