LETTER:Who is the Dictator? D. Gisele Coming for Richard?

9

Dear Editor:

Puppet masters, animal farms, black dictators. These are just a few colorful words I could use to paint a picture of the political circus we’ve been enduring with the United Progressive Party. Our party is a drama series, and the season finale is Anthony Smith’s resignation.

It’s surprising that this young man was able to leave the UPP. It’s clear that something is amiss. That something is D. Gisiel Isacc, the tyrant who has been consistently causing conflict among members, as they have claimed.

The party has been experiencing a significant walkout of members following their loss of office a decade ago.

Despite this, the party leadership remains resistant to change. Most dissenting members express frustration with the leadership, feeling stifled by what they perceive as a dictatorial rule and a hostile environment that discourages the expression of their views.

An emergency meeting took place last night following Smith’s surprising resignation, and like many similar gatherings, it didn’t end well.

It appears that the “great and mighty” D. Gisele Isaac intended to remove Anthony Smith, Kelvin Shugy Simon, and Richard Lewis Giselle from the picture. Algernon Watts is seemingly tolerated only due to the potential use of Observer Radio.

Last night, it was clear that Richard Lewis is now the center of attention. There seems to be a strong desire to remove him from the party. Lewis is currently in Jamaica and appears to be struggling, having taken time overseas to deal with the distress.

Giselle made it clear that if an election were to be held right now, Sherfield Bowen and Jamale Pringle would likely be the only viable candidates to secure their seats.

Another surprising revelation was the potential return of Harold Lovell to lead the party. It’s ridiculous that the UPP is so devoid of leadership that they are considering bringing back a figure who has run in 10 elections and won only two.

This is quite a lot to process; a retrograde step resorting to a “spent Harold” for leadership. Waw!

  1. YOUR RUBBISH ARTICLE REEKS OF DESPERATION.

REMEMBER GASTON THAT YOU RUN AN ILLEGITIMATE GOVERNMENT THAT YOU CONFIRMED STEALING THE ELECTION WITH BY TRANSFERRING VOTERS TO OTHER CONSTITUENCIES.
IF YOU ARE SO SURE OF YOURSELF THEN WHY GO THROUGH ALL THESE SHENNEGANS?

  2. When will Richard Lewis realize that Gisele and her UPP really HATE HIM and he J-A-M-A-I-C-A-N wife??? UPP hates foreigners and Richard married to one.

Richard need to remove himself before Gisele remove him from HER party.

Why he keeps holding on to someone who don’t want him? BATTERED WIFE SYNDROME?? 🤔

  3. Another bulls**t article. While others may have left because of strife with the leadership and their goals being at odds with the direction of the party, Dr. Athill, others like Smith, George, Lamin, and Driftwood left because they were offered positions in the ABLP administration. If Richard somehow finds himself at odds with the leadership, I know for a fact that he would NOT be joining the ABLP. Some people leave their morals and convictions aside when faced with economic decisions. Others hold firm to their beliefs. Kudos to Dr. Athill and Joanne who was expelled from the UPP. Joanne could have easily booked her ticket back to parliament on the ABLP ticket, but she has held firm to her beliefs. I have zero respect for the others.

  4. I don’t believe these Turn coats were ever faithful UPPites.Every party have their differences but my problem with people like Anthony Smith and those jump ship before him.Why immediately after resignation you jump in Bed With ABLP..You have always been a laborite.

  5. For the sake of DEMOCRACY in Antigua & Barbuda, this slow march to a one party state by the ABLP is not only to the detriment of ALL Antiguans, but also a dangerous and IRREVERSIBLE move towards Gaston Browne’s ultimate goal towards creating a dictatorship here.

USING EX UPP MEMBERS AS “TROJAN HORSES” TO DESTABILISE THE OPPOSITION, ONLY FOOLS THE GULLIBLE AND THOSE WHO WANT TO SEE GASTON REIGN SUPREME.

Politics here in Antigua is at a crossroad …

  6. Giselle Isaac and her shaky Rumpeltidskin lawyer decided to expel the four MPs from the party.
That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard!
Do they know that these four guys can form the opposition and leave her with her two stooges Bowen and Pringle in the cold?
Pringle is busy making money from his business. He is not so keen but Giselle needs him to prop up her control over the party.
Giselle is the architect of the destruction of Harold Lovell’s political career. He did not listen to what so many others were telling him about how destructive she was. She went into UPP with her POWA dominatrix personality and she turned the party into a garden party group with feminist causes and food fairs.
She chased away some of the most fruitful members of the party. Some of them would never join ALP but stay far from the UPP because of her.

Spencer and Lovell have to be asking themselves some very hard questions about their lack of stewardship in stemming the hatred unleashed on Richard Lewis by Giselle and her minions. This hatred has a lot to do with her fear that he will not put up with the crap that she gets away with while the others wring their hands.

  7. And of course each is entitled to his or her own opinion. The facts are there. The UPP has been losing many members in a short time. And all of them are pointing out to the same problem within the party structure. Dictatorial. I know they like to say that Gaston is a dictator, but so far he hasn’t lost anyone because of that. Asot was booted out because of his corrupt nature which brought the government in a bad light with Scotland Yard. Dean Jonas had bad fall outs with females in the public and was taken to court. And even now he is entangled in a court case. Michael Browne also got himself embroiled in a sex scandal, giving not only him but the government a bad image. And after the last election Gaston as a leader has told those that lost their seat that they should not be selfish and contend the next election, whenever it is called. He called on young candidates to come forward and claim their right to these leadership position. That is not dictatorship. That is visionary leadership. It may be harsh for those it affects but it is reality. As you can see Harold run for 10 election cycles and only won 2. Was there no one that could run and do better. Selfishness he couldn’t resist and let a younger person try it. There are different ways one can contribute to the well being of the party and country. Not all of us have to run for office. Now I don’t know much about Anthony Smith, but one thing I know, and that is, decisions such as this you do not make likely. You have to consult with friends and family and your God. I wish him well in his future political journey. Don’t have a crystal ball and therefore cannot see into the future.

  8. This is a stupid article. Just another attempt to kill UPP so that they would not have anyone to asked how our resources are being “crue beed” -pardon my spelling.
UPP could if they wanted to, seek out money in Dubai and elsewhere and try to match ALP dollar for dollar. If, as it seems, money is the issue then no one will leave. It is to their eternal credit that they refuse to do so and that is commendable and worth my vote.
Let who want to go “whey the money is”, do so. Time will tell what will become of them.
