WI must beat England, Australia

Daren Sammy needs to stop living in the past, he is not captain of the West Indies anymore. My assertions were right, Sammy is behaving like a captain and not a coach, bossy and picky too. As a coach, your job is to facilitate the game, because the players are the ones playing not the coach, implicit coaching is the ideal style for any sport. The rumours of the dressing room bust-up during the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean is now confirmed, it was true.

Every minute, Sammy is running down the pavilion stairs to give instructions to Rovman Powell, he was playing on eggshells. Cricket is not a perfect story, every decision is an educated gamble, it could go either way. Sammy won two World Cups as captain, fine, that was him as a player managing his players on the field at that time. If the excuse was Rovman Powell’s performance as a player in the team, then why is Shai Hope named as captain who isn’t a first choice in the T20 format?

It’s clear he had a hand in that, it could still be alleged. Perhaps Kraigg Brathwaite smelled the rat and said no need for a Test captain, so he’ll call it a day and focus on his batting, let Sammy and Seeteram set the field and declare from the stands. I nominate Alzarri Joseph as a Test and T20 captain, the next seasoned player for West Indies, all format player, he’ll get to set his own field too, lol! I challenge Daren Sammy to settle the apparent xenophobia, the haters, and the alleged politics by beating England and Australia across formats, most importantly a test series win against Australia.

  1. With what team? Regrettable and truthfully, the West Indies continues to be one of the most inconsistent teams in international cricket in all formats of the game. Beating powerhouse England and Australia is never going to be easy given our recent history. Our batsman continues to falter in the wicket and too often gives our bowlers very little to defend. The glory days of West Indies cricket are long gone and as a result, the vast majority of cricketing enthusiasts don’t even bother to follow the game. We want to RALLY ROUND THE WEST INDIES but we have had very little to rally around recently.

  2. Not a fair comment about Sammy every leader or coach is different in there own way he don’t an will never get everything right some decision will not always be the best but I think at d time of the decision his best interest is at heart

  3. The present Alzarri cannot make any West Indies team at the moment, so how is he going to be Captain? Is this another Sammy situation? He seems to have lost his ability to bowl. Maybe he needs a long rest to recharge his batteries and settle his head.
