Dear Editor,
Jesus declared, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” Those words should be the foundation of our faith. Yet today, many believers are left wondering, has the Church lost its way?

There was a time when the Church stood apart from the world, a refuge for the weary and a guide for the lost. But now, the line between sacred and secular seems to have vanished.
Too often, we hear of pastors, church leaders and members caught in scandal, fraud, sexual misconduct, adultery, and hypocrisy. These are not just headlines or another news article, they are heartbreaks that shake the faith of those who once looked to the pulpit for truth.
We condemn our young people for drifting away, but can we really blame them when they feel judged, excluded, and disillusioned by those who are supposed to lead by example? Inside some churches, gossip replaces grace, and judgment overshadows love.
How, then, can we point others to “the Way, the Truth, and the Life” if those appointed to lead us are walking in darkness themselves?
We are quick to accuse politicians of misusing public funds, but are we just as vigilant about how our tithes are spent?
Too many faithful members have watched their 10% of salary go toward luxury cars and personal indulgence, rather than ministry and community outreach.
It’s time for the Church to take a hard look in the mirror. If it mirrors the world, who will lead the lost back to God?
A Concerned Believer

Some of the churches here run some of the BIGGEST scams about the place. I was amazed when a friend of mine told me that the pastor in her church came to her home to enquire why she was not at church, she actually had travelled, and to inform her that even when she’s not there, she must still contribute.
My friend is watching the pennies, and drives a car that’s in the shop almost monthly as she’s trying to keep it in the road, and this pastor pullsup to her home in a luxury vehicle, and lives in a very large house that is his personal property, not church property.
It seems that Christianity is becoming a business, and this needs to stop. The heads of churches, need to go back to their roots and note that they are to guide the congregation to salvation. They are to talk of about the ills in society and challenge it aggressively. But it seems that they only talk big on the pulpit, make ppl feel good on Sunday, and they play in the muck like the same people they preach against
One reason the church has lost its influence in today’s world…
Is because the world has gained too much influence in the church.
There’s hardly a difference anymore:
• The Church dress like the world
• They talk like the world
• They eat like the world
• Their marriages face the same infidelity
• Their music sounds just like the world’s
Where is the line? Where is the salt and light? 1 Peter 2:9 says “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation…”
Let’s live like it. May God help the Church to rediscover holiness — not as a dress code, but as a way of life that reflects Christ. Let the church be the church again.
@ Ralston Pompey my friend your criticism of the writer is unwarranted. The writer says he/she is a strong believer (unlike me) and has no problem with paying the 10% tithes. The writer’s problem is how many churches use all the money they collect from their members. Though not a big believer I support the writer 100%.
One does not “pay” tithe. One “returns” tithe. That 10% belongs to God, the Provider, Sustainer and Giver of “every good and perfect gift”.
“Churches” who misuse and abuse this tithe will fall under the judgment of said God. Each of us must give an account of our STEWARDSHIP (time, talent, resources, influence etc) to Jesus Christ the Righteous Judge.
Whilst those are true in certain aspects, how many people do you find actually dedicating time to make the effort to attend church today?
You are seeing the actions of the great whore mentioned in revelation 17, and her many daughters. The true church still exists and will continue to until Jesus returns. You will know them by their fruits. Most importantly, compare them to the same word of God they teach. If it doesn’t match up, move…no matter how comfortable you are. Better to please God than man.
News flash.
The church has always been the world.
” Wolf in sheep clothing” has always been the Monika for the church.
Jesus Christ or John the Baptist has never had a sermon inside a “church”, never. First of all women should not be preachers, and many churches ignore those precepts..
So sir, your statement is a cry to the wrong people. I have not set foot in a “Church” in the past 15 yrs, and I love Jesus Christ to the bone. So take a listen.
Sometimes we all need reminders like this the Church must lead with integrity and compassion.
