Dear Editor
Recently, I was forced to go into hibernation to spend some quiet moments to think whether or not, I had made the right decision to vote for ABLP during our country’s last general election .
Frankly speaking, I will admit that I am not 100% happy with how the Labour party is managing the nation’s state of affairs. At the sametime, I am not yet convince that ABLP should be changed to another administration to manage the affairs of this twin island state.
Of course, I think that better can be done by this Labour party administration. The deplorable roads, the country’s security in reference to gun violence, the high cost of living, the late payments to the new Social Security pensionsers and how the young doctors are treated like second class at SLBMC & who are also facing challenges to be cemented into the health care system, are some areas of grave concern.
I will accept that it is highly unlikely for a govt to be perfect and to meet every single demand in a timely manner. However, it is incomprehensible as to why such demands especially those that I mentioned above cannot be dealt with, with more interest & urgency.
Be that as it may, I have to say that the standard of living here in Antigua is still much higher than its counterparts in the OECS, inspite of the flaws that this administration exhibits.
For me, it speaks well of the Labour party & it tells me that the Labour party is doing something right for the residents & citizens alike, whose interest they perhaps have at heart especially in the following economic areas
1. Housing: Persons are now living in better houses. The housing stock at Denfields, Dredgers & Paynters are primary examples.
2. Transportation: Almost every homeowner privately owns a vehicle, making each household independent with transportation
3. Availability of jobs: Jobs are readily available especially in areas of hospitality & agriculture.
4. Provision of Funds: The NDF has created a springboard for entrepreneurship
5. Tertiary education: Young people are taking advantage of tertiary education from the UWI Five Island campus thus making them marketable locally & globally.
6. Improved water supply: The water supply has improved causing less complaints among the residents.
7. Incentives for farmers: Farmers are now enjoying better farming opportunities since the introduction of new incentives.
8. Inter island air transport: LIAT 2020 is now in the air providing well needed inter island transport within the region.
9. Vocational certification programs: Institutions like Harrison Center are certifying students to enable them to become marketable with a skill within the region
10. Booming Tourism industry: The tourism product is now booming and providing an abundance of income to all stake holders across the board including the vendors, taxi drivers etc & etc within the tourism industry.

Lies
The author should have remained in Hibernation, because h/s/he is more confused than ever. Antigua is in a desperate state and this current administration is the worse ever.
Youth unemployment and youth crime is out of control.
No improvements with basics essentials such as running water.
Roads, well enough said.
Cost of living is not equitable with salary.
Drugs and prostitution on the increased
White collar crime escalating, eg. Let’s nit forget the scandal involving Olabanjo and his “tight friend” who participated in human trafficking from West Africa, which caused embarrassment to A&B on the international stage. Incidentally, we still don’t know what happened to the “two friends ” of Olabanjo who used government vehicle to pick-up from the airport during their early morning out of hours airport normal working hours. The list of corruption is endless. It’s staggering that “enlightened” Antiguans would embrace and accept the failures of this administration to be working for the nation.
Reprehensible links with rogue countries
