Dear Editor,
We are writing to express our concerns regarding the investigation into the recent discovery of a decomposing body in Swetes in early March.
As we await forensic results, it is imperative that we, the community, are kept informed about the progress and findings of this case.
The tragic loss of life and the circumstances surrounding it have left many families reeling in uncertainty. To be blunt. We need to know whether it was Orden ‘Passo’ David because we were told it could be him.
The police have stated that the victim was stabbed to death, and crucial forensic evidence was collected before the remains were buried.
However, the timeframe for receiving these forensic results remains unclear, leaving families of missing persons in anguish as they seek closure.
It has been reported that those who saw the body believe it belongs to Passo. The dead man was allegedly wearing the same attire Passo was last seen with. As we near the end of May, the urgency for answers heightens.
We are not rushing the police, nor are we motivated by anxiety, but the desperate need for closure and justice for affected families cannot be overstated.
Transparent communication from our law enforcement agencies is essential in fostering trust within the community. In the new millennium, forensic results cannot take months. We need answers. The other missing person’s family also needs to know whether the body belonged to their missing loved one.
We call on the authorities to provide updates on the status of their investigations.
Families and the public deserve to know how long this process will take and when they can expect answers regarding the identity of the victim and the circumstances of this tragic event.
Sincerely,
Concerned Citizens

💯!!!
It’s shocking that in 2025 we still have to beg for basic information. If someone’s loved one is missing, they deserve answers—not silence.
Me live right ya so and not even one word from dem! Ah wah really gwan? People fraid, man.
We have young people going out every day. A body found and no clear update? Come on. We need to feel safe in our communities.
Watch now, dem go hush-hush like dem always do. If it was some high-up pickney, everybody woulda done know already.
Mi use to wuk in de force, and mi know investigation tek time. But dem coulda at least say if dem suspect foul play or nah.
We pay dem salary every month. So why we can’t get no proper update? Wha we supposed to do, wait fi Facebook rumour?
So the authorities are expected to dust off their magic wands and by some devination guess the identity of the corpse who showed up in Swetes!! Somebody in Antigua must know of a missing family member or friend and refuses to come forward. There is a great deal of evil present among us, in our homes and in our communities which can allow a dead man to show up dead in a vacant lot and remain unclaimed for months. What more stories do you wish to hear?
My recommendation: Use taxpayers’ money and bury the unidentified, obviously unwanted, clearly dead body.
A question the public need answer for! It’s been far too long this body has been found and no clearance on who the body belongs to. Yes, many may believe it’s Passo but what in an instance it’s now? What if people wanted to say that because they want clarity on Passo. What if it was Keon. The authorities here are wasting time and they don’t release public matters swiftly.
Someone understands the public needs answers. I don’t understand the hold up but one thing for sure it doesn’t make sense. WHO IS THE BODY? That’s what we the public want to know. And this is why we are a nation that live in fear. Cause the police can’t protect us and the government don’t care. Police sides with the criminals and abuse the innocent.
It is just despicable and wretched that since that body was discovered in Swetes, nothing further has been forthcoming. Whilst we do not have a forensic lab locally, it do not take 3 months to send samples abroad and get back the results. Citizens deserve to know what is happening in their community and once again I fault the Police for their less than proper and timely updates on issues that are relevant and important to the society at large.
We are in the twenty first century and technology has advanced. We should not have to wait this long for answers. By the way, do we have the technology and capabilities to solve these types of crimes popping up in our country?? I understand that UWI Five Campus have criminology degree program. Do UWI have the right technology on campus for the students to engage their practical?? The book work (theoretical) alone is not going to cut it. We need to have our police and defence-force officers cross training overseas in countries like Canada, America, England, Trinidad, etc… in practical criminology. Another thing, we need a criminology forensic laboratory, fully equipped with trained staff, in Antigua and Barbuda like yesterday.
Consequently, criminals are capitalizing on this vulnerability.
@faithful national #1: I absolutely agree with you there is a great deal of evil among us, in our homes, in our communities but you conveniently forget in high offices too, what say you
” It has been reported that those who saw the body believe it belongs to Passo “.
Although the timeline of updating the public may be of great concern, and rightly so, I am not in agreement with the notion of calling names unless there is proof.
The loss of a loved one is a very sensitive nature. Name calling can rise the hopes of the loved ones of the victims and then there could be a major disappointment if at the end of the day, the FACTS from the forensics differ.
Where I am living. I do not look over my shoulders when walking. In Antigua, it would appear as if I have to do so. That is not my Antigua. When my cars were left unlocked and front doors the same. Why did we change so desperately?
The authorities in Antigua only concern is about our crime rate is the lowest in the Caribbean . Hiding the truth just for political reasons. . I happened to read an article in the Grenada Today news paper ,and they are giving statistics on how many deportees they have received from 2020 to the end of 2024. Even the total in break down from where they were deported from. We in Antigua have no idea of such events. Stop hidden the truth .
It seems like evil is enveloping this beautiful island of ours. The authorities and the powers that be have turned their backs on thorough investigations.
Hell, I would go even further than the above mentioned.
Why has our religious leaders gone so silent on the wicked and sinful ways that’s threatening our way of life?
Their silence is troubling, especially after the noises they all made during Covid-19 fiasco when towing the government line on getting vaccinated.
Murders are still going unsolved; lone women are regularly being targeted; businesses are rit being robbed or broken into; and we have yet to hear any concrete news or conclusions on the politician that was recently murdered; the 2-3 customs officers that were killed a couple of years; and let’s not forget the recent Murder of an 11-year-old.
SILENCE!!!
I started out by saying “It seems like evil is enveloping this beautiful”.
I THINK IT ALREADY HAS …
Didn’t passo had locs?
Hair do not decompose so if the person had locs then we could have said that it could possibly be him. So the persons speculating that its him should have looked again.
The ongoing silence and delays surrounding the investigation into the decomposing body found in Swetes, and the unresolved murder of Richard Whinfield (Monk), point to a disturbing pattern of incompetence within the law enforcement agencies.
It is unacceptable that in 2025, families must wait months for forensic results, without updates, clarity, or even basic communication. These delays reflect a glaring lack of urgency, organisation, and accountability within the police force. While citizens are asked to trust the system, the system continues to fail us.
Witnesses strongly believe the body may be that of Passo, yet nearly three months later, no confirmation, no closure, and no justice have been delivered. The absence of timely updates is not just frustrating—it is disrespectful to the families suffering in limbo. How can faith in the justice system be sustained when cases go unsolved and questions go unanswered?
The brutal murder of Richard Whinfield (Monk) in February is yet another glaring example. No suspects, no arrests, no real progress. Swetes has seen too many lives lost and too little action in return. Antigua is quickly becoming a place where heinous crimes vanish into silence, and murderers walk free and roam the streets of Antigua without being challenged.
The people of this country deserve a police force that is capable, responsive, and committed to justice. Until the leadership within our law enforcement takes responsibility for their failures and takes concrete action, trust will continue to erode.
Enough is enough.
