Dear Editor,
The United Progressive Party (UPP) is facing a crisis of its own making. The removal of stalwart members who have dedicated their lives to the party from the voter list for the last UPP convention has sparked a firestorm of resentment and betrayal.
This egregious error has created a deep-seated division within the party, which can only be addressed by acknowledging the wrongdoing and making amends.
The masterminds behind this debacle, the current executive, must be held accountable for their actions. By purging loyal members who supported Richard Lewis’s faction, they have not only alienated a significant segment of the party but also undermined its very foundation.
These stalwarts, who have been replaced by family members and girlfriends of the current leadership, are now filled with a sense of vengeance.
They will undoubtedly continue to encourage people to vote against the UPP unless the party takes concrete steps to rectify the situation.
The UPP leadership must apologize to these wronged members and take responsibility for the harm caused. This is not a matter of saving face or maintaining power; it is about restoring the party’s integrity and credibility.
The convention that led to this fiasco was a sham, and it is imperative that the UPP acknowledges this fact. By doing so, they can begin to heal the wounds and rebuild trust with their loyal members.
A Path Forward
To move forward, the UPP must:
- Acknowledge the wrongdoing: Recognize the harm caused by the removal of stalwart members and take responsibility for these actions.
- Apologize and make amends: Offer a sincere apology to the affected members and take concrete steps to rectify the situation.
- Restore integrity: Ensure that the party’s decision-making processes are transparent, fair, and inclusive.
- Rebuild trust: Engage in open and honest dialogue with loyal members and work to rebuild trust.
We need to confront the uncomfortable truth and acknowledge that the convention was not a fair democratic process. Some who are positioned to benefit will tell you otherwise, but the party leader and its chairman were not legitimately elected.
Serious professionals know that with this level of institutional destruction and team degradation, the current heads must go. I call on all party officers to resign their positions for the betterment of the United Progressive Party institution and Antigua and Barbuda.
Only by taking these steps can the UPP hope to heal the divisions and move forward as a united and credible force. The alternative is a continued downward spiral of recrimination and defeat. The choice is clear.

Writer it is easier for the sky to turn pink than for the POMPOUS, ARROGANT, HAUGHTY, SELFISH leader to “apologize”

Forget the Puppet and his master stepping down.
Gisele even blocked attempts to bring in a professional mediator.
The writer will remain frustrated because UPP will never have an honest discussion, much less meaningful change.
Dear writer, you mean well but the only solution to this saga is for the leadership to STEP DOWN! Pringle has shown over and over again he’s incapable and incompetent. If he cannot announce 10 candidates how is he going to run this country? Poor wehner was pushed at the last min knowing the outcome just shows the degree of confusion. If the poppet master and the poppet doesnt step down, UPP will lose the next election.
You DIF dem say dem nar tep dung???
“Both Isaac and Pringle were elected to their positions, and Isaac made it clear that neither of them intends to resign under pressure from these unidentified critics.”
There are a few in the UPP who are hell bent on helping the current leadership to hold on to power.
These include a couple who were UPP, went to DNA and are now back in the UPP.
Just like the UPP turncoats who are now in Labour and are strong supporters of keeping Gaston Browne in power, so is this brown couple are now more UPP than when they left and they are creating chaos.
Name the couple nah!
As i always say,if the chair lady of the UPP don’t give up her post as chair lady, don’t matter what plans, they may have for the party,it will not work, because her way of thinking is very revengeful, and mean…
I grieve for my party, I do not see or hear anything positive happening the time to start rebuilding confidence is now. Antigua and Barbuda cannot be left in the hands of the Gastonites and Labourites if the UPP fail to reorganize for the love of this country then they are no better than ABLP
“The Honorable Jamale Pringle was elected, and so was I. I am not stepping down to please any of them, and he is not stepping down to please any of them either,” Isaac stated, challenging the dissenters to voice their concerns at the next convention if they are truly party members.

Has Chairman Giselle Isaac APOLOGIZED for her behaviour at the retreat yet?
“The convention that led to this fiasco was a sham…..” ??????? #LIES
the DULY ELECTED LEADER OF UPP/LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION needs to stay away from Richard Lewis! do not trust richard under any circumstances!!! He is self-seeking, self-serving, SLY and underhand. richard posed for photo with the Hon. Pringle after the convention, but now we see it was FAKE!!! every living day that God wake us up, richard tries to OVERSHADOW MR. PRINGLE!! He just cannot accept that HE LOST TO PRINGLE!

2. The Chairman made it clear that she wants Richard Lewis out of the party.
3. She revealed that a recent poll showed Richard Lewis trailing Michael Joseph in the St. John’s Rural West constituency.
4. The Chairman expressed her lack of trust in Richard Lewis, stating that he can no longer win his seat and should step aside.
The leadership of the party were not concerned with keeping unity within the party after the convention…. their mindset was who vex can leave ..Giselle said so
PRINGLE WELL WANT THE GENERAL ELECTIONS COME TO LOSE HIS SEAT. PRINGLE WELL WANT TO BOW OUT BUT HE NO NO HOW TO DO IT. SO NEXT ELECTIONS HE NOT GOING TO HAVE MUCH INTEREST.
A woman with more balls than man!
