Tensions escalated at the Progressive Radio station owned by the United Progressive Party (UPP). Once loyal followers of Serpent now voiced their frustrations, declaring him the “biggest traitor.”
Serpent, the owner of now rival Observer Radio, faced accusations of undermining the party he was elected to represent. Supporters expressed disbelief over his inaction against Mr. Knight, a key adversary threatening the UPP’s integrity. They questioned why Serpent allowed opposition rhetoric to flourish without standing up for the party.
Listeners were vocal. One supporter exclaimed, “We built this party over years! Mr. Knight is tearing it down, and Serpent just watches!” Many felt betrayed, believing Serpent would protect their vision. Instead, he seemed complicit in the turmoil that Mr. Knight was creating.

UPP – SOS (same old shit)
I am neither Serpent’s nor Knight’s biggest fan, but I note one thing. None of their detractors are claiming that Serpent and Knight are spreading lies. Their complaint is that Mr Knight curse the party and Serpent did not come to the party’s defense. In this whole pepperpot Truth has become a casualty. Is Mr Knight lying? 😳 If so, call him out. If he is not lying, then fix ur internal mess and stop waiting for someone else to drink bush tea for UPP’s fever
The irony of this “letter” is truly staggering. For years, we in the UPP have railed against the ABLP for their “autocratic” grip on state media and ZDK acting as an 18th candidate. Now, the moment an independent station like Observer refuses to be a “Blue version” of ZDK, we start screaming “traitor”?
Let’s be real about what’s actually happening here:
• Media Independence vs. Party PR: Observer Radio is not Crusader. Serpent’s role as Managing Director of Newsco is to provide a platform for all voices, not just the ones that make the UPP feel good. To demand he censor Mr. Knight—the same Knight who spent years “banging” the Labor Party to our cheers—is the height of hypocrisy. You cannot call for democracy in the streets and practice dictatorship in the studio.
• The Rift We Created: Don’t blame Serpent for the “turmoil” when it was Serpent, Bowen, and Richard Lewis who reportedly boycotted Pringle’s swearing-in ceremony. If the leadership is fractured, it’s because of an internal power struggle, not a radio show. You can’t blame the mirror for showing you a mess that you made.
• Selective Accountability: Where was this energy for “loyalty” when callers on Crusader were berating our own UPP MPs and candidates? Management didn’t cut them off then, and the leadership didn’t distance themselves from it. It seems we only care about “disrespect” when it doesn’t align with the leadership’s preferred agenda.
• The Reality Check: While we are busy labeling people “snakes” and “traitors,” the actual voters are looking for the exit. This “Same Old Shit” (SOS) is exactly why UPP supporters stay home on Election Day. If the UPP continues to be as thin-skinned as the ABLP while pretending to be democratic, they are handing the country to Gaston on a silver platter—or giving a clear path to the DNA for those of us who are tired of this circus.
Grow up, UPP. Political maturity means handling criticism with facts, not with censorship and name-calling. If you want to find the person tearing the party down, stop looking at Observer Radio and start looking at the internal letters and the boycotts.

Anytime people call on the UPP to make corrections where it is needed, they brand you ABLP what a shame. Mr. Knight hit everybody. He is one man that is not bias. If Mr. Knight say something against ABLP or UPP, if he is correct, make the corrections. If everybody is saying good things about ABLP or UPP and not saying anything wrong about them then something drastically wrong. UPP wake up and do the right thing if you want to see the back of the ABLP

I like Knight’s show generally but his program has become a broadside against the Chair of UPP and anyone he thinks is closely associated with the chair. In other words, it has become personal. One can and should criticize. That is one of the things that sets UPP apart from ABLP but when one gets so incensed that they no longer care about “throwing out the baby with the bathwater” it gets counter productive. Knight and his show is at this point.
