LETTER: UPP has not learned a thing from their losses

Please publish the following letter in your ANR newsroom which is extremely popular and widely read in Antigua and Barbuda and ABROAD.

Dear Editor,

I just heard Tabor on Observer and immediately thought that UPP has not learned one single thing from all their losses.

I was planning to join them (had enough of Gaston and Labour) but listening to that guy really giving me horrors. Every Friday he comes on the air and show off his knowledge about every topic.

I sometimes wonder if he understands politics, Antigua politics especially. He keeps saying how in the next election UPP would do this and that.

So he just intends to keep losing and move onto the next one? Because if UPP continues with this style of politics, they will lose the next one.

This one was a sure thing for them and Lovell mess it up. No meeting night before elections and he expect to beat Gaston who was busy out there among the people touching every pocket?

Tabor is a technical man. He should not be doing politics. The party needs a PRO who is into the politics. UPP has bright people, we get that. But all they do is give information. Feed ALP with ideas that sometime they steal and try to do and mess up, but ALP is better at politics than UPP.

Any fool could see that. So why is UPP still trying so hard to impress people with their knowledge? Lovell could talk good. Politics? Not sure about that. Spencer was a good man but did not have the guts to play hardball politics. Neither Lovell. Now they are bringing Pringle? Give me a break. When will UPP learn.

In the campaign I follow them everywhere. I was hoping to get something that I could see would beat Gaston.

Gaston beat them with cunning, nastiness, lies and misinformation. Every day he would bring out something outrageous. UPP talk about this, then move onto the next thing that Gaston did the next day.

The question is, when will they get a PR team that would take it to Gaston and Labour? Their people on radio not good. Zizie trying his best, no body listening to Crusader. You could hardly hear the station anywhere.

Chaku is a waste of time, Crife is very bad for the party. Don’t know why nobody would take him and his foul mouth off the air.

Jackie sounds like a bubbly speech therapist. Tabor is boring and does the same thing on Wednesday that he does on Friday morning. And they have the same callers who act as if they paying to upkeep the station.

Especially the blessed and highly favour lady. They want to talk as long as they want and say what they want.

And what stands out is that UPP DON’T OR CAN’T DO POLITICS!

When will they get the message? Too much brain and brightness is not what people want right now. Do that when you get into power.

Gaston right now is walking all over the UPP because he realizes that he has no competition.

He says some of the worst things. He admits to doing wrong things, and all the UPP says is that we are planning a march, or a vigil, or a petition, or we are looking into it. No fire, no outrage, nobody pounding Labour. No protesting unless it is a big event. They have a whole radio station and not using it for politics.

My solution is to bring back Lovell. Foolishness he did saying he resign. But right now that is the best going forward. What is there now is not working. Get rid of the Chairman.  Bad energy. Looks like the men in the party fraid her. Take Tabor off the radio. Let him work in the background. Audition for a good fighting team of information people to take it to Gaston and the Gastonites.

START DOING POLITICS! Otherwise the UPP will forever be in opposition.

  1. Sounds more to me like you feel threatened by Tabor sir.

The power to change government lies within the vote of the citizens. If the majority shared your views on the ABLP they would NOT be the government. Would you rather the opposition start a riot rather than a match or protest? Let us be sensible with our views.

  2. Had there been more educated people than uneducated in Antigua, ALP will struggle to win elections… the raping of this country is shameful.

    • If that is true, then why does the Gaston Browne government spend so much money on education? More than any other government in the past. Why would he bring us a university so that many more of our young people have the opportunity to get a tertiary education? Why would he give a record amount of Scholarship to our student? Building and expanding new schools like the Sir Novel Richards Academy and now the NEW ABICE and Garisson Centre. Why does the honorable Gaston Browne aim is to have each household in Antigua and Barbuda have at least one family member with a university degree? If he knew that it would in the end lessen the possibility of winning an election, why would he do all of that? I guess your theory is so flawed. That is why he wants more people to be able to think for themselves, because listening to you and your flawed theory is what almost caused the ABLP to win the election. Listening to the lies and believing that Gaston Browne landed a plane at the airport with US$4billion dollars. An educated person would not be sucked into believing those lies. And you guys have cleverly exploited the ignorance of the people. That is why we do need to educate our people so that they cannot be misguided and misled so easily by a bunch of crooks. But before the next election people will come to see who you guys really are. Telling one lie after the other.

      • @ From the sideline; unless u are privy to what exactly was on the plane, I suggest you shut your mouth. U are typical laborite puppet! U add no value to discussion. The fact remains that this government is smart at masking the real problems 90% of the population face. but the majority do not make decisions based on a country first…. its all about party. When u have dunce elements who makes remarks that it doesnt matter even if “you put a dog” as a candidate, they will vote Alp… this just sums up the mindset of most… its shameful and pathetic!

        • Why not address my questions.
You guys always seem to be missing the point of debating on the issues. You made a statement and I rebutted what you said. Why not rebut what I said? But that is how weak you guys are.
Take for example the people of St. Peter’s in particular Parham. They used to vote ABLP no matter what. But who did they voted for this time around? They did not care about the party. They have their allegiance to their MP. Although I found that very sad. It is what it is. The remembered what he had done for them over the years. And stood with him in times of his trouble. And I understand that.

          • Talking about Parham will not help to make your point. The ALP screwed up Parham by treating their Representative like they did. Gaston can’t handpicked their candidate. In conclusion, the people of Parham did not left the ALP; the ALP left the people of Parham.

      • @From The Sideline
Nothing can be done with most of labour supporters. They have passed the stage of educating. Hopefully, their children will avail themselves of the education opportunities made available to them to move Antigua forward. Unless dunceness is hereditary. In that case, Antigua is doomed.

      • Well said sideline. Once labor learns from its mistakes (chief among them-time to hold managers accountable), the next election will see us in a even more stronger possition. GB has made history by being the first PM to be elected 3 consequtive times. In the meantime UPP does not get that in game terms they have been swept. Government’s investment in education will start showing real benefits in terms of more persons not falling for UPP lies. Government must ensure it does not continue to hide its acheivements under the proverbial bed.

        • @Tenman
Gaston will go down in history as the labour leader who confirmed what people have been saying that labour can only win if they practice fraud.

  3. No problem with the UPP loss at the last General Election, because the ABLP now have to clear up their own awful mess. Simple.

JUST STOP THE WORDPLAY AND PONTIFICATING AND CLEAN UP THE COUNTRY NOW … ABLP MESSY SO TILL. YUCK!!!

  4. Fool. Everyone knows the election was unfair, and it’s been declared by the dog himself that all what upp was saying is the gospel truth.

  5. Sounds like UPP could be in a spot of bother.

It appears the snake is raising his head and hissing. Looks like he wants to be leader because there is a gap. Understand he is deciding who is in and who is out, and as he says in his pit, he goes to collect his boys to go and lime, when he feels like, and all of them follow him. No surprise here.
    Watch this space.

  6. @ Rexon

your letter makes little or no sense, BECAUSE THE UPP DID NOT LOSE THE ELECTION.

You obviously did not hear Gaston Brown admitting to skulduggery and illegal transfers to facilitate their ‘victory’ and illegitimacy…….

ONCE YOU HAVE LISTENED, go and EDIT your thoughts and return with a revised article from your puppet master.🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

    • The UPP lost the elections. It’s laughable that someone as learned as Dr. Quinn would suggest that Gaston’s talk about transfer is illegal. Newsflash, there are many UPP supporters who have loved years outside one constituency, yet go back to vote in another constituency. Lovell, for example, lives in Buckley’s, but votes in City East. Gaston lives at Jolly Harbour or up north, yet votes in City West. I know people living in St. Mary’s North, Clare Hall, Villa, but vote in St. Mary’s South, because though they moved, they never transferred.

There’s no stipulation enforcing transfer of electors. Once you pass proof of residency at registration and when you request a transfer, there’s absolutely nothing stopping you from maintaining your registration in your chosen constituency.

      • @Dunlop J
So preventing people from being transferred legally when they request a transfer, and transferring people out illegally when they did not request a transfer is not a crime. I would like one of these people to come forward and state how much they were paid. Please don’t write stupidity.

  7. “Gaston beat them with cunning, nastiness, lies and misinformation.”. If this is what the writer wants UPP to learn then, GOD help us!!! He goes on to say, Gaston was out there touching every pocket, which more or less says the same thing as quoted. So now, there are those who feel that elections should be who can outdo each other with cunning, nastiness, lies and misinformation?? Also, that the direction our country should go should depend on who can touch the most pockets? Ok then, let’s say Calvin Aire gets interested or Hadeed, or Barrett or any person with means, then they can just go on to win an election in Antigua and Barbuda??? Whose interests do you think such a thing will serve??
Be careful of what you ask for because our country is messed up a lot already by ABLP. We don’t need UPP, or anyone else, competing with ABLP to see who can destroy it more.
Truth is: the people must be true to themselves, think about the future of their children and pay no mind to the kind of crap spouted above. They should also be able to tell the difference between slick and substance. Until this can be done, we will continue to always vote against our best interests. Sadly, this poster is already one of the goners.

Also, the biggest cun job that took place last election was UPP operatives claiming that 4 Billion US dollars came in and was being stored at some airport. Gaston is still walking free after those same operatives claimed he would have been arrested within a week. You all bought that hook, line, and sinka.

The internet revolution and social media should have produced a smarter population, but you all are more gullible and daft.

  8. UPP will never win an election when you have Gaston and his accomplices committing fraud my rigging the election. When Gaston says so out of his own mouth, what happens? Maybe only a French revolution will change things.

  9. @Rexson, sounds like you are the best person for UPP. Where are you? Why are you not offering your expertise in politics? I look forward to hearing about you …..actually, on either side. We have a political guru here everyone!

  10. UPP didn’t lose shit cus ABLP theif the election and paid big money to do so..

Harold also won his seat by a land slide, check the persons doing the ballots and counting bank accounts how them fat fat..they rigged that shit 😒
