I am writing to bring public attention to an unresolved issue concerning unpaid wages for work performed during the Independence Food Fair, organized by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Creative Industries, in collaboration with the Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission.
In 2024, I was engaged to work at the Food Fair in a general labor role. Although payment was promised, I did not receive the full amount owed at the time. What payment I did receive only came months later, around January of the following year.
Despite this experience, I worked again at the Independence Food Fair in 2025, performing similar duties, including trash collection and handling responsibilities that arose from what appeared to be poor on-site organization. As of today, February 8th, I have still not received any payment for the work carried out during the 2025 event.
Individuals providing essential labor at national events should not be required to wait months or years to be compensated, nor should they be left without clear communication or accountability. This matter raises concerns not only for myself but for others who may rely on short-term or event-based work organized under government ministries.
This letter is submitted in the interest of public awareness and accountability, with the hope that greater transparency and improved administrative practices will ensure fair treatment of workers in the future.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
A Concerned Worker

Again workers complaining of not getting paid for work already performed.
Well according to Gaston Antigua has no money problems and is short on labor therefore his government has to import more labor.
Please letter write:
Take note that the government is broke and cannot pay it’s financial responsibilities, so once again taxes will have to go up.
In fact I do not know how they will finance the reduction in ABST from 17% to 7% which Harold Lovell warned them about before the IMF review.
That shows the brilliance of the man.
Gaston is going to reduce ABST from 17% to 7% just to try and win the next election. If he wins ABST will definitely go back to 17%. On top of that he is going to raise the other taxes we are already paying and possibly introduce new ones. When are Antiguans going to realize Gaston is the Ultimate CHARLATAN and get rid of him. We certainly cannot depend on his Cabinet colleagues to protect us. They are all MATCHSTICH MEN. if he says jump, they all ask HOW HIGH
