Recent developments in our justice system have sparked growing concerns over the apparent disparity in how certain individuals are treated under the law.
The case of Kelvin Sundar, who was swiftly remanded to prison for allegedly robbing a mini mart, has raised questions about how different crimes are being treated.
While robbery is indeed a serious offense, what is even more disturbing is how it contrasts with the treatment of Angela Mejia, who has admitted to the abduction, murder and disposal of 9-year-old Chantel Crump—yet she appears to be receiving protection from the state.
In Kelvin’s case, the legal process was quick, and the accused faced immediate incarceration. However, when we look at the case of Angela, who is accused of such severe crimes—kidnapping and murdering a young child—her case seems to be handled with far more leniency.
Despite the gravity of her alleged actions, she has not faced the same level of scrutiny or consequences as Kelvin, leaving many to wonder why.
While Kelvin was just thrown to the dogs like the remains of a ham bone, Angela is being held in isolation, being protected from not only the prisoners but the prison officers who cannot take a good look at her.
This matter raises serious questions: Why are those accused of more horrific crimes not facing the same urgency or severity in their prosecution? Is the justice system truly applying the law equally, or are some individuals shielded from the full extent of the law due to factors unknown to the public? The situation is concerning, to say the least.
Even more troubling is the message this sends to the public: that some people may be protected or afforded more favorable treatment while others face the harshest penalties, depending on the nature of their crime or other unknown factors. This selective application of justice undermines public confidence in the fairness and integrity of our legal system.
As a society, we must demand transparency, fairness, and accountability from our justice system. The law should be applied impartially, ensuring that everyone is held accountable based on the seriousness of their actions.
Sincerely,

We all have to realize that it has nothing to do with the justice system but how we as a people was reacting to the situation and the police force has to make sure there is no vigilante justice but rather justice through the judicial system
So if we know that is the case why black people continue to commit crimes?
@Antiguasurf. You are an idiot suffering from a disease that is afflicting many. Read more, gather information, see if you can assimilate that information, then add reason and common sense. And then, only then open your mouth or write and offer an opinion.
Kelvin Sundar is only one of the persons that the police have held in connection with that robbery and he is being HELD ON REMAND. His case has not been heard or adjudicated as yet. The other two individuals will be brought to the court on Monday and there will be a decision on whether they will be remanded or given bail until their due date in court.
Understand the process before riling up the sentiments of the public.
You’re 100% correct.
This guy is a criminal a potential murderer, but that situation with the Spanish girl everytime ALP in power , different ethnicity or race has differential treatment, can you remember cutie Benjamin let go how many white people out of prison and the court have to learn of it by newspaper? The ALP officials are creating a favorable situation in case they have to seek asylum from prosecution if they lose the government, these country will host them as they flee, it was the same Spanish people marched and stop a Spanish man from been hang, Antiguans have never been able to compelled ALP to do anything, the 1968 police tear gassing and shooting in point protest is still a traumatic event. And this new police commissioner is glad to command police officers with m-16 machine guns to go Barbuda to guard the white people white only swimming area or buffer zone demarcation as in the USA Jim crow laws where black section and white section only. Fed up with Gaston crap, he don’t operate as a black man.
@Eldread Everyone is “white” on the inside… Human beings are mostly similar. Time to stop stirring up hatred. That being said all people groups should have a fair chance at “success” aka achieving their goals n this country. If some groups are still suffering because of past injustices then they should be given the extra support needed to regain footing in life. However, a lot of past issues have already become non-issues. There are people of every “race” who do good things and bad things, who do well in life and who don’t, who have desired opportunities and who don’t. Even if black people owned everything in Antigua that doesn’t mean everyone would be happy. There would be rich black oppressors ruling over poor black people, classism, sexism etc. still running rampant. Societies will not be fixed based on race or a particular political ideology. Society will only work well when people choose goodness and love over greed and evil. Basically the world needs Jesus.
How is there a special treatment in protecting a person from extra judicial harms? Isolation is not a luxury, it is torture.
You have to really comprehend the criminal justice system before you write this. Kelvin will not want to be in isolation, you are literally advocating for him to suffer more. He would not want that.
Both matters are extremely different matters. Completely different crimes.
Highly profile crime, murdering alleged homicide of a child, appropriate, prudent and justified to house the accused away from others until the heat of passion in the public subsides.
Regular burglary or robbery or larceny, whatever it was in the other matter, nobody is really talking about that, there is no public outcry I know of. Less serious crime, than murder, easier to prove, evidence he committed the crime (if so, I do not know) but point is, literally everything in this article that is conveyed as negative, is actually positive and should stay exactly that way, in terms of protecting those with credible threats against them. No matter who they are. That is how it should work.
What is going on here?
You are all bring played with this article . Need I say more.
I have no mercy for those who break the law. We need to go back to hanging people.Too many senseless crimes.
