Dear Editor,
I was scrolling through my Facebook page, I saw this post which I found very profound & interesting.
The following sentiments I will share
A young man asked his grandfather, “Grandpa, how did you live in the past ……..
without technology?
without computers?
without drones?
without bitcoins?
without Internet connection?
without TVs?
without air conditioners?
without cars?
without mobile phones?”
His Grandpa answered:
“Just as your generation lives today . . .
without prayers,
without compassion,
without respect,
without real education,
without proper home training
without proper role models
without any personality,
without any human kindness,
without any empathy
without any shame,
without any code of ethics
without any modesty,
without any honesty.
without any heart.
The grandfather further lamented that “We, the people born between the years 1930-1980, were the blessed ones. Our lives are a living proof.”
While playing and riding a bike, we never wore a helmet.
Vehicular accidents were very far & few.
After school we did our homework ourselves. We did not have ‘AI’ or ‘Google’ to assist us.
We always played together in the parks until sunset.
We played with real friends, not virtual friends.
If we were thirsty, we would drink from the fountain, from the waterfalls, faucet water, not from mineral water in bottles & cans.
We never worried about getting sick if we shared the same cup or plate with our friends because contagious diseases were not as prevalent as now.
Ground provisions & beverages was our regular meals rather than eating Kentucky, bread and pasta every day.
We never used food supplements to stay healthy. Fruits & vegetables were used as our supplements.
We used to make our own toys and play with them.
Our parents were not rich. They gave us love, not material gifts.
We never had a cell phone, DVD, PSP, game console, Xbox, video games, PC, laptop, WhatsApp etc . . . but we had true friends.
We visited our friends without being invited and shared and enjoyed the food with their family. Everyone including parents took advantage of family time. It was a ” village life ” looking out & socializing with each other.
We may have had black and white photos, but we found colorful memories in these photos.
We went to school, acquired an education or a skill but we were not obnoxious, arrogant & full of ego, inspite of our accomplishments.
We are a unique and the most understanding generation, because we are the last generation that listened to our parents who instilled respect & courtesy within us.

Best time ever. I remember making my own toys. Now i’m an engineer.
Alex take your head out of your…. Each generation experience what they experience as it is or was the “now” for them. You cant go back in the past they how lived in the past cant come to the future so what really is your point? We are now living “now” and we live with what obtains.
The author of this letter have the generation period wrong. The obnoxiousness, arrogance, haughtiness, conceitedness & egotism started in the 70’s.
Those born in the 60’s backwards were very disciplined, well mannered, respectful, obedient & well controlled
Persons born in the 90’s and beyond are radical, disrespectful, heartless, immoral and unhumane
what year was Gisele Isaac born? Tabor calls her the “CHAOS DEMON”
Generation period wrong, that’s why I can’t be bothered because 1983 class in and out of school Stella.
Both writer and commentators have a Point. For each generation or era once you’re alive. You have to use whatever tools, equipment and or behavior traits to survive adopt to life challenges. And to top it all off I end with this. It is the past that shaped and opened whatever door(s) for the present and the future. So the people born between the 1930 – 1980 invented all the things that we are presently using and this generation will continue the invention trails.
Soooooo what happen to 1981???🤔🤔🤔same as the 80’s same thing I grew up with …
