I am writing to bring urgent attention to a very troubling situation happening in the Cashew Hill area. Yesterday, there was yet another break-in at Shabo Nedwell home, which has left not only me but the entire neighborhood shaken and fearful.
This is especially alarming because her house was already broken into just last month by four armed men. Since then, the area has clearly become a target for criminals, yet there has been little to no visible police presence or patrols in the community. It is extremely unsettling to know that despite repeated incidents and clear danger, nothing significant is being done to protect the residents.
We are being robbed, our sense of safety is being taken away, and it feels like our cries for help are not being taken seriously. Many of us no longer feel safe in our own homes. We live in constant fear, wondering who will be next. This young lady has to replace her door again and her valuable items. I can only imagine how traumatic this must be again.
I am pleading for this issue to be highlighted publicly so that the relevant authorities will take action before someone gets seriously hurt or worse. We should not have to wait for a tragedy before something is done.

I guess We the citizens need to take matters in our own hands and do what we must to protect ourselves and properties, police doing shit so we must ,because this is getting out of hand.
Too much criminals in the country and this Wretched Administration still wants to bring more to increase our misery. Murder, theifing, rape will increase 100 times more. Wicked set of People in control Antigua and Barbuda
As of now possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition is the Antiguans only protection from crime. The police are useless, the ruling political class may actually be complicit in the recent crime wave. So taking a charge and sentence for possession of an illegal firearm is still preferable to becoming a victim to these scum. If we can’t take our island back through law enforcement and the courts then it’s up to us citizens to effect a solution by taking criminals live one at a time.
To the nincompoop and those who believe that the police can and should be every any where crimes are being committed…allyo are wrong as 0-10=10. Thieves don’t call the police to let them know when they’re going commit any crime. I agree that increased patrols are needed but, the police cannot be everywhere at the same time. I think some of the 8-4 Monday to Friday office personnel can and should do a 4 hour patrol, Saturdays or Sundays. Again, it needs more senior officers with some of the young “no good manners” officers, who don’t know how to speak to citizens. The use of air conditioning should be optional…officers should be on the alert every time. Stop telling people that there’s no transportation. Too many young race car drivers are driving police vehicles and, those match boxes the government has given to the police force should be taken back to the dealership and give police proper vehicles. There are no working VHF system at of the any police stations nor in any vehicle…that needs to be prioritized. Mr Commissioner, please let your legacy be in placed in the archives of good governance. Time to stop ” knocking about” good officers because pettiness. Just to quickly mention, Constable Goodwin.
Go out at night after 1:00 AM, i bet you tou won’t see one police patrol at any given time, people know that and criminals too. The police can’t be everywhere but, a little patrolling at night would make a difference
