LETTER: Mr. PM my voters card is ready but ABLP just may not get my vote

4

Dear PM

It was not a surprise to hear the announcement that the General Election will be taking place within the next 90 days.

Clearly, the writing is on the wall that ABLP is in election mode. Unfortunately, UPP has once again been caught with their pants down and have alot of catching up to do.

Interestingly, I received a call from our constituency branch office yesterday, seeking confirmation wether or not my voter’s card is up to date. Well, the simple answer is yes. Furthermore,  I will not hesitate to indicate that I am also Labour party supporter.

However, for this election, I am not too certain if I will be exercising my franchise.  Many promises have been made by your administration but it seems to me that these promises are hoax.

Clearly the persons who I see as beneficiaries of some of these promises are the ones whose voices can be heard as the loudest on the airwaves on talk shows defending the Labour party.

My main peeve is concerning the roads & the late payments from Social Security. Our roads are extremely deplorable. Our licenses went up by 40% yet there is very little sight of road upgrades.

Initially, I was paying $682.00 to license my vehicle, now I am paying almost $960.00 yet my vehicle is faced with too many turbulences on the roads, especially roads like All Saints main road.

On the otherhand Social Security is still not living up to their obligations on time. Our sickness & maternity payments are been paid several months after the application has been submitted. Why not earlier? I need to eat & my picknee need to eat also. I also heard that some pensioners applied for their SS pension and are still waiting over a year for a dime.

I am sure that there are many more persons especially vehicle owners  who share  similar sentiments like me and therefore, the Labour party may not earn our vote.

Remember Mr PM, should your party face any casualties during this general election, it will be due to the poor decisions that you have made and the poor services that we, the residents & citizens are getting that certainly do not deserve.

Alex

  1. Music to my ears … if ABLP THOUGHT THEY WERE DOING SUCH A GOOD JOB WHY CALL AN EARLY ELECTION? Hmmm looks like fear to me … after all, the boat got sold and the kickbacks where done the cars got thief and those “ROTTEN ELEMENTS” had some big GINORMOUS balls to even go to motor pool and get free gas AS WELL 🤔 you think them people easy?.. they ARE no good, “empty belly” actually they behave like there stomachs are empty with no empathy for you nor me .

  2. What is truly amazing to me is that people thinks Gaston really cares the people. He doesn’t care about the UPP people and big surprise he doesn’t care about Labourites either this is just a game for him. His only ambition is stay in power to enrich himself further. For him the time was right to get into politics and ALP was available if the opportunity presented itself in UPP there is where he would end up and practicing the same type of skullduggery. It’s the prerequsite of a CHARLATAN and Antiguans up to this day fail to recognize it

  3. Wow, kudos to Alex the writer of this heartfelt piece. It reminds me of my own dissolution with the ABLP and Gaston Browne when I decided enough was enough of supporting the party around 2014/15.

Alex has also highlighted well his major concerns.

    Especially when he rightly mentions:

“…Social Security is still not living up to their obligations [to pay] on time. Our sickness & maternity payments are [being] paid several months after application…”

Alex’s letter to the ANR editorial team has not only given me déjà but also giving me goosebumps to how I myself was feeling 11-12 years ago.

An honest “undecided” ABLP supporter at last!

Whoever you decide to vote for Alex, I enjoyed reading your well balanced political viewpoint.
