Misogyny Exposed
Dear ANR,
Social media has been rife as stories of what happened between men and women in what would normally be private settings have come to the fore.
Many comments have been made as a popular and engaged couple has had the glassy beauty of their relationship shattered as a young lady shared that she too would have gotten in on the relationship.
While criticisms and comments on the situation arose, it was most unfortunate that a person who holds a position at a local media house decided to make a comment that was the most disrespectful about the alleged other woman- suggesting that she is young, dumb and full of what rhymes with dumb.

However, the young lady was able to show that this man would have also been pursuing her, and she turned him down. While I don’t have a personal grievance with relationships with wide age gaps provided that both parties are adults, this man had to have known WHILE he was speaking to her that she was young. Her youth clearly was not a reason for him to go against trying to get her attention. When exactly did she appear to be dumb to him? Did her level of intelligence matter when he was trying to make a move on her?
This level of hatred for a woman for simply being rejected shows how fragile some men in our society are, and the need for fathers to be in homes. I understand that the man who decided to make that comment would have lost his father at a young age, so maybe he needed to be mentored on how to be a man because his endless posts on social media suggest that he is deeply broken and in need of validation, like a lot of men in our society.
Amid all of the madness on social media, this shows how thinly veiled misogyny is within our country where a man could have avoided speaking on a young lady, but decided to say possibly the nastiest thing about her because his little, delicate feelings were hurt.
It also calls into question the code of conduct media house employees are expected to adhere to when a man who is supposed to hold a position of authority IN MEDIA can act so recklessly on social media… it’s baffling.
Anything really goes in Antigua because had that person been anywhere else in the world, they would have been fired with immediate effect and their hopes of being credible in media would have been destroyed.
This letter is not meant to be a “men are evil” letter but to expose that even some men who would try to create the facade that they care for women would only do so if their own interest of getting into bed with women are met, if not, they show their true colours.
There are great men out there in Antigua.
There are men in Antigua who are committed to their families, running businesses, and making a difference in real life and this cuts back on the time they have to be acting up on social media.
Let us know the difference and call out the misogynists as they appear.

Well said writer! To be honest, a lot of men showed their true ‘cheating’ colors especially the big so called influencer who would have listeners believe he ONLY speaks truth! He has been recently that women must value themselves, dress as queens and not have “strings up in their cocaholes,” That he was committed to his ‘wife’ and even chastised females in the comments who gave him the slightest compliment -because he had a ‘wife.’ Going ok so far? Well imagine my shock when on his two lives about this same situation, he ragged off his sheep clothing and exposed the true wolf of misogyny and cheating underneath. The man begged Lauvin to please, please give him the ting till viewers were left wondering if he had broken up with his ‘wife.’ Cause ain’t no way her partner could be on a live with over 3,000 views begging a next woman in graphic detail to let him do all manner of things to her. On a live, mind you…..not in a group with his bredrins making all sorts of jokes, that would stay in the group… on a LIVE. He even went further to show a pic of the alleged side piece in a small bikini bottom and made gestures and insinuated what he would want to do. Now tell us, isn’t this gross disrespect to his so called ‘Queen’ and ‘Empress.’ NOBODY, who was preaching till the spit bombs were hitting the screen, about decency, etc could sink into such nastiness. At one point he even said that even if the main piece had a itchy private part he would still go through with it (with protection). I honestly believe he owes his girlfriend an apology. Truly, she needs to think hard because anyone listening to him for those hours got the feeling that he was and still is a gyalis and not the reformed, committed partner that he pretends to be. Plenty people saw the TRUTH on those lives. Misogyny is sadly and disgustingly alive and well in Antigua.
What did I miss?
What is unfortunate is that your letter has failed to note that at no time in that young and dumb post did the person who holds a position at a local media house EVER mention her name or made reference to her. She took a screenshot, posted it on her page and stated “You always a chat nfk dawg a wah cause I wasn’t “ready to be *YOURS* yet?” “.
Speech is still free in this country even though we may not all agree on how some people choose to express themselves.
It certainly should not be the expectation that woman can get away with anything and when there is pushback hide behind accusations of misogyny.
People need to be done with this story. First off the sports caster did not mention a name in his post and till this day did not. Eveybody is assuming and making an ass of themselves including you and the side piece. Antiguans just dumb and very mum when it comes to the important things that really affect them. The country ah fall apart and this them ah study…SMH
