Liar, Liar, Wayne On Fire?

In the ever-evolving landscape of local politics, credibility stands as the cornerstone of public service. Recent allegations of fabrication leveled against Attorney Wayne Marsh, the United Progressive Party’s candidate for St. Paul, have cast a shadow over his campaign before it has truly begun.

In a scathing Facebook post, Dr. Cleon Athill systematically dismantled Marsh’s claims on a recent radio show about their supposed prior interactions and collaboration.

In particular she rubbished Mr. Marsh’s claims to have been a campaign worker, advisor, supporter of her political approach, a moral compass on what constitutes bribery when helping constituents, and the reason she left politics after his return to Antigua.

What makes this situation particularly troubling is not just the alleged dishonesty, but the nature of the falsehoods themselves. Dr. Athill alleges that Marsh fabricated entire conversations, misrepresented his campaign involvement, and even took credit for her departure from politics.

If true, these aren’t minor misunderstandings or differences in interpretation – they represent a fundamental disconnect from reality that voters should find deeply concerning.

I have followed Dr. Athill closely. She is many things and is a bit too by-the-numbers for the current political culture, though I obviously understand the principle behind being constrained and circumspect; yet Dr. Cleon Athill is no liar.

She is honest to a fault and displays strong conviction in her political philosophy and dealings, even though many of us would have wanted her to be more flexible and conventional in the political arena. I therefore regard her accusations of Mr. Marsh to be highly credible.

Politics, at its core, is built on trust.

When a candidate begins their journey by apparently manufacturing relationships, responsibilities and conversations that never existed, it raises serious questions about their fitness for public office.

St. Paul’s constituents deserve a representative who can stand on their own merits without needing to embellish their past or appropriate others experiences.

The UPP leadership should also take note.

Having a candidate accused of fabricating stories so early in their campaign poses risks not just to their chances in St. Paul, but to the UPP’s broader credibility. Swift action is necessary to either verify Marsh’s claims or address what appears to be a serious lapse in judgment, to put it mildly.

The UPP supporters of St. Paul deserve better than political theater built on artificial relationships and imagined conversations. They deserve a campaign standard-bearer focused on real issues, real solutions, and most importantly, real truth.

  1. Mr. Marsh – did he go through a PRIMARY??? Why he feels the need to ride on the coattails of the former upp candidate??? He is making other attorneys look bad. Lawyers already have a horrible reputation as LIARS. THIS IS NOT A GOOD START FOR WAYNE MARSH AT ALL!!!

  2. Wayne Marsh has obviously duped the UPP… or perhaps they just don’t care about finding credible candidates. “Safe-seat” Pringle only cares about, as he says “making more money in opposition than government”

While I think Wayne could still score some empty political points nationally, the people who know of him and his antics in the constituency – the actual voters – know Dr. Athill’s story checks out.

His campaign is dead on arrival for many more reasons than one.

I saw a video of Wayne the other day standing in front of the Cobbs Cross Clinic which will open shortly, claiming that community healthcare is on life support. Can you imagine that?

What kind of political dunce stands infront of the evidence of development while claiming nuttin tarl a gwaan?

The Pringle Puppet mind virus is spreading fast! Call in the CBH santizers!

  3. All politicians LIE! Show me one ALP parliamentarian that has not lied…I’ll wait.

UPP supporters really didn’t need someone else to regurgitate more puke than what was already published earlier? Is the ALP feeling a bit unsure about Chet’s chances of being reelected? The UPP supporters of St Paul can decide for themselves what they want and deserves. What they DON’T want is unsolicited advise from an obvious ALP tool that have the nerve to be writing about credibility… Lmfao!

  4. Oh plz!!!!!!!!! Wayne Marsh got caught BLUE handed in multiple LIES!!!!!! Tap try throw ABLP under the bus!!!!. Dr. Athill called him out on the spot!!! Once again y’all come with the distraction/deflection tactics when y’all get caught with ya pants down!!!!!!
    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😭😭😭😭😭

  5. Yawn! All politicians LIE? Tell that to the UPP candidates and mouthpieces who claim they are more pure than the Virgin Mary! Only now to have Wayne get exposed like this. You made my day with that one 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I thought the UPP was pushing up better alternatives. Now the cry is “everyone is the same”? Oh how the pure have fallen. Baldwin must be sitting somewhere asking what the hell happened to his baby.

  6. If I ever enter into politics, I am running on ceasing and seizing all assets of any and all politicians who have misappropriated, stolen, and abuse the asset and positions of the people.

I will put them all (politicians who stole and abuse their power) in prison and return every dime to each and everyone of the people of the United Islands of Antigua and Barbuda. This would result in the country being tremendously wealthy.

This is a platform to really run on and I will introduce the US and British prosecuting team along with the Antigua and Barbuda team to perform this very important job.

  7. @Keep it Real, your red kool aid politicians have no moral authority over UPP when it comes to lying. And that’s keeping real. We can compare the lies and see which ones are bigger. Now go kick rocks and pound sand. I said what I said!
