LETTER: Let’s not forget about Sir Robin

Sir Robin being welcomed by ABLP colleagues on November 18, 2024

These days one hears nothing about Sir Robin Yearwood, but the gracious response of the many workers of APUA and others under Ministries of Sir Robin, continues to impress. The training programs and yearly internships have paid off in that courtesies continue to be a big part of their delivery of services.

Sir Robin was an avid reader, and continued educating himself in the ways of the business world and government cultures. He however depended heavily on the expertise of his staff and advisors, which demanded that staff training and continued education was a must.

We are happy to see the results are maintaining the custom, set in place by a man who has served his country well, and maintained his constituency’s love for almost half a century.

Stories abound about how involved the Minister was with his hundreds of employees, and his personal care exhibited in his rough-joking expression. Recognizing the many Rastafari in the APUA ranks, whenever celebrations were in order, Sir Robin would ask if the Rastafari eats and other ‘things’ were budgeted for, creating a big laugh. He was that kind of leader, visible, kind and tough.

The mettle of the man was clearly defined by his constituents, among whom he has always lived, and whose homes are open to him, even as he walks straight to the kitchen to taste from the pot on the fire. A lifetime of love among his own people made Sir Robin a permanent fixture in the hearts of many. This was no nambly-pambly love, this was and continues to be tough love of a man and his people.

Lots of love to Sir Robin!

  1. As I sometimes become subsume into nostalgia of my village , willikies village ( colonial name ” Willis Hicks”) reminiscing the pastures and lands towards the coastline that we use to hunt crabbs and fish or carry our animals to graze in the fields like big pasture #1 & #2 that is not going to ever happen anymore because ostensibly the minister pawn them up for himself or his Caucasian friends, it’s heart breaking, when I look at the bay area my grandfather and father use to come in with fish that is taken over by shell company of the minister, and some areas under the ownership of Caucasian and what seems like bush is marked with no trespassing signs, and if you fail to yield the police is usually sent out to make you vacate the area, many a villagers have foundation in those bushes trying to construct their home but had to flee , some even have their house demolish by instructions in favor of robin yearwood, this minister robin yearwood has destroyed the dreams of the youth in that constituency, only the minister prosper from either the sale or the purchasing of these coastal lands, if only his family decides to fence all his lands along with what went to Caucasians the willikies people have no seaward access, what robin yearwood did has stifled entrepreneurship, if anyone is in the fishing industries or agriculture there is no room for developing your craft, if this minister time would have come to leave this earth because that is usually the end results regardless of your stature and wealth, he woukd have leave a sad and acrimonious memory among the future generations who would have find themselves fenced in the center of this peninsula shape community with no access to the sea, and some a these people older ancestors owned some a those lands previously during colonial times, and now we independent it has been taken away by our own politicians, but I don’t think robin was ever for black people anyway because his father was a white planter do he operates on a kind of ideology that the black people should be kept container and given menial jobs to keep them underdeveloped, their opportunity and growth destroyed by Robin Yearwood.

  2. Wow! That’s a long one and what’s up with the big word? Just say white people and done with it, plus after all that was said, your villagers continue to vote him back in every election.
