The youth are driven by this instant get rich narrative or gratification the politicians flamboyantly display, so they want to emulate the same status gone rob and thief, because intelligently so, they analyze that the politicians and them thief than anybody in prison that committed same crime of robbery which they do to the nation tax payers but untouchable. The politicians display conspicuous consumption and always celebrating names like Robert deniro and others that let the black youth feel alienated and less human and without dignity socially not having any real estate or lands while the rich white people gets thousands of acres on the white sand beach with buffer zone, to keep the black people away until they allowed permission to these mansions in the capacity of a gardeners or maids to clean the properties, shadow the great calypsonian says poverty is hell. This human subjection of black people only creates fantasy of wealth that is attain through crime.
The government can solve the problem by giving land resources to these black young people, even as waved concessionary leases prices, or a lands system like Barbuda where you could occupy lands in common, and monetize the local development bank to give loans, these lands can be leased for 99 years like the colonial black government do for the white people empowerment.
It is amazing to see in the system of democracy that power devolve from white colonials to black people who now emulate their colonial masters by keeping their foot on the black people neck, keeping them poor as the white colonials did, the black politicians are a coconut, white inside and brown outside, they think white once they get into power, they steal and loot like the white man, they don’t follow the good etiquette our parents taught us when they get to power, where a village raised the child and look out for each other, they look about you only at the end of their 5 year term for more votes. They functional in performative politics, their main aim is self enrichment that creates comparison that drive the crime rate up, casing the innocent to suffer because of their portrayal of conspicuous consumption, driving the latest cars building big houses all of a sudden.
As I am saying the crime situation can be solved with equal distribution of opportunities and resources, and this should only be given to Antiguans and barbudans that can trace back 3 generations, because injustice of wealth distribution to occupiers creates an internecine among us black people, because the whites are never subjected to this situation, so that causes the killing among black youth shooting up the place.
I hope one day that the model of colonial power we celebrate will cease to devolve and replaced by a revolution.

Who running the Country has nothing to do with what our youth have become, train up a child begins at home, parents have too often become their children’s friend instead of their parents that’s where the problem starts. It’s interesting, that the “church” is mentioned, as the One Stop Shop to solve crimes and curtail criminality, when, the church in and of itself is a criminal enterprise; therefore, let me know which church banner am I waving? The Church of England. or the church of Rome which are responsible for the inquisitions, that enhance and propel the Transatlantic Slave Trade 14th Century – Present (yes, supported by huemans, of darker HUES, and of different religious persuasions and ideologies…bear in mind, that the moors who were present and controlled parts of Europe are from Alkebulan Dynasties and Cultures).

In one of your recent pieces i.e.100,000.OO Jumbees(jumbles) walking, you mentioned, the archaic laws(Antigua, Barbuda and REDONDA) which still hampers someone in your profession, as they pertain to crimes, the same has to be done to the ARCHAIC LAWS which still governs many churches ideologies which do not, and I repeat DO NOT align with Cultures which are germane, holistic and gives us the opportunity to propagate and thrive.
Our government MUST put policies in place which the CHURCH must adhere to as well, to rise our culture like a phoenix bird from its ashes.
These ashes are as a result of our burnt and burning VILLAGES (the concept and reality says, there is no space between anything) therefore, All within a defined space like a village/community is ONE. You are astute enough, to know, IT TAKES A VILLAGE. This is the culture which your churches are opposed to, have being systematically destroying it with such things, as the BASTARDIZATION of families (child, parent, adult), TAXES called TITHES, free Labour called volunteerism. The government needs to separate itself from the church and begin taxing them like any FOR PROFIT business, then use these monies to develop solid matrices which governs, promote and advance THE VILLAGE positively.

The people who run a country can have an effect on behavior by the policies they introduce and the examples they themselves set, it certainly cannot eliminate crime and bad behavior completely but it can help but not with the guttersnipe mentality of the present leadership

Well the Bible predicted that things would get worse nearer the end so if this is the new normal then it’s just prophecies being fulfilled as usual. Man turned away from God’s wisdom at the beginning of the story and will keep on doing so until we learn that He was right all along when “every knee shall bow”. We’ve tried all kinds of systems of government – capitalism, socialism, democracy, dictatorship, communism. All have pros and cons but failed to give peace and prosperity to all because the ‘evil’ heart or ‘sin’ in people e.g. selfishness and greed will always cause human systems to be inadequate. We’ve tried to control nature, putting our faith in scientific advancements such as genetic manipulation, only to result in poorer health. Now, we’re on the path to trying to control knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence by putting faith in AI, trained on our paltry human knowledge, to supposedly think for us and solve all our problems, but AI has inherited our sinful tendencies and is already lying to us left, right, and center. No matter what we do, unless we ALL learn to live in LOVE (as Jesus himself taught), we will not have perfect peace. From my vantage point, when I was a child our country was more genuinely religious in every way – not just church attendance but in people’s attitudes to one another in every aspect of life, in our choices of entertainment, in the way work was done, in how the sick were treated, in how the poor were treated etc. vs. now. Basically, the U.S. became more irreligious and we followed them. Now, we’re reaping the rewards by increased callousness and violence in society. Persons born today believe this is how it has always been so they may not change it. Persons born earlier are struggling to survive and may not do anything either. Unless everyone truly embraces good values and living in love, putting that into every aspect of daily life things are not likely to improve until “kingdom come”.

@ Vincy Man in Hiding, I totally agree with you. But first, I also agree with @ Dr Lester Simon. You’re both correct. The first social training a child receives is at home, then school comes into the picture, then society does the rest. I do think that as a society though, the government can install mandatory programs to engage young people and teach them what it means to respect people’s property and lives. If they were to institute even two years mandatory military training for every youth leaving school and immediate training for those who drop out of school, we’d see a society of young people who are more disciplined, responsible and accountable. It still takes a village to raise a child but we frown upon such things because for one reason or the other it was never upheld as viable. Home, School, “Church”, State should all be seen as needing to work together to create a better society!!!!!
